When should poppy wearing start?

I live in Glenrothes, and haven't seen a poppy seller, for at least 3 years. I got a metal one, and use that every year. But that doesn't allow me to donate.

We haven't got ours yet (despite the fact that DH delivered boxes and boxes of them)!

I noticed that they was wearing them on This Morning yesterday I thought it was a bit early?

The BBC have been wearing them for over a week now, so what's that all about? It's like Christmas it gets earlier each year!

I want to see more peel off poppies, red and white, as it's impossible to stick pins into the type of coat I tend to be wearing around this time of year ( a parka or light quilted jacket). Those of you who sell poppies, do you know if it's possible to get that type please?

Couldn't agree more, townie. I don't like sticking pins in a quilted jacket. A sticker would be ideal.

As long as you wear a poppy to show support, does it matter when you start to wear it?

I remember some poppies with sticky backs years ago, but they kept falling off!!

Poppies with sticky backs are available. I was sent one yesterday in a pack requesting a donation. There was also a very nice pen and a couple of notelets, what did that cost the RBL

I am sure poppy sellers should have some stick-on versions in their boxes if you ask:

I bought mine today, but shan't wear it until I go out on Friday night with an older friend for a meal who will be upset if I don't.

I don't see that I have to wear it at all really, I have donated and that is what counts. I also possess a really expensive one that I thought would free me up for a few years, but the fact is, everyone in our village knows everyone else including the poppy collectors, so when he came round tonight I would have felt bad not buying one. I also then felt I had to buy another for DBH to wear this week, for when he goes up to see the outlaws, for they would be mortally offended if he hadn't been wearing one night and day since at least September.

I will probably only wear mine (which I haven't bought yet ) for the week leading up to Remembrance Sunday and then until Remembrance Day.

As I predicted, up-thread, I bought two poppies in case I lost one and have already lost both.

anno that's why for the past 3 yrs I've bought the metal ones. I really struggled to remove last years from a coat I don't wear often.
It's good that they put the year on them, I'm sure some people would otherwise use them year after year.

Someone taught me to push the pin through the plastic stem to fix it more securely.
