How Many Homes Have You Had?

12 since I was born, starting in Plymouth and gradually moving eastwards across Devon. 9 since I was married.
Gosh, it's amazing to look back and remember all those moves.

It's been all over the news locally that the house I sold in order to move here 6 years ago has just been the scene of, - allegedly, - a murder. It's strange to think that the house I lived in so peacefully for over 8 years has had such violence within it's walls recently, - allegedly.. ( I'm covering myself legally, I hope! Nothing has been proved yet, obviously)

By the time I was 21 I had one permanent address for every year of my life (DF was in the army). Since then, 2 rental properties before I married, 2 after and we are on our 5th house as owner occupiers - plus a holiday home in France. I see at least one more move ahead when our current large house and garden becomes too much and we downsize - but that is not imminent.

3 with parents, 1 rented, 1 in first marriage, 4 with husband and children, 1 inherited which is let.

The last house was for 35 years and we downsized to this one 9 years ago. I rather expect another move to sheltered accommodation on one level before I'm done which will put me bang one the average of 8 homes in a lifetime. Nice to be normal at something!

3 with parents and just 2 since we married 39 years ago. We have been in our present home for nearly 32 years and have no plans to move.

9 in total including 2 with parents before I moved out to get married,starting with a 2 bedroomed flat with shared bathroom then moving up to the big family 4 bed detached where we stayed for 20ish years then 2 apartments and one villa when we lived abroad,we have now downsized considerably to a one bed apartment where we are now and are very comfortable though we are on the look out for a bungalow in the near future.

5 since birth, 3 with DH. This house is currently on the market, having been here 12 years, and we are looking to downsize. It means things are constantly tidy and we have had lots of viewers but have still to find somewhere to go. Forgot how difficult it all is.

4 since marriage. 35 years in present home which I love but feel I may have to move on soon; since DH died it is quite a handful to look after especially the garden.....sad as it was such a happy place in which to bring up our children.

From birth until now - 13 different homes. The longest I've ever lived in one place was 20years and the shortest time was 8 months.

I would like to have lived in one place as a child and one place when I was married - but things didn't work out that way.

From birth, 9, since marrying, 6.
When I was born, we lived with my maternal Grandma, my father having been killed in WW2, 6 months before I was born. When I was 3, my mother married again, and we lived in my stepfather`s council house. When I was nearly 13, I ran away to my paternal Grandma, where I stayed till I got married aged 20, and we lived in an old, ramshackle rented cottage a few doors from my Grandma. 2 and a half years later, we moved to a brand new house about 3 miles away, where we stayed for nearly 12 years, then hubby took a job on the other side of the country, and we lived in a little 12` touring caravan for 15 months, (us 2, 5 children and a cat!), before being allocated a council house 9 miles out of town in a tiny country village, more of a hamlet in size, but there was a tiny church which made it a village. We lived there for 3 and a half years, then moved to another council house nearer town after our car was written off by an idiot. We lived there for just over 3 years, then bought this house in town, we`ve been here for just over 30 years.

Amazed at some of your replies. I would expect forces families to have several moves. DD was only with her squaddie for 7yrs but moved 4 times.
I spent all my childhood in one house only moving from there to get married. I currently live in my second martial home (same DH) So a total of 3

Oh dear, I wish you hadn't asked! Including my childhood, I have had 33 homes. My DD was in the Forces, as was my DH. Some were only temporary, in-between postings, so may have only been for 6 months or a year. Others were for up to three years. We've calmed down a lot since retiring to Civvie Street, this is only our 3rd house in the last 22 years.

17 in total if you count childhood, student and single person.

I am intrigued to read how much we have all moved about. No wonder estate agents love their jobs!

7 in my life. 3 with DH . We downsized just over 4 years ago. I love if here. It's a pebbles throw away from the sea and only a few miles away from almost every member if my family .
