Suggested by jings of jangly fame. If you want to take part, post your age and what region of the country (or which country!) you live in.

I'm still 59 until next month and I live in Argyll, Scotland.

Luckygirl Sat 10-Oct-15 19:55:31

.....and I feel so old.......!

annsixty Sat 10-Oct-15 20:10:39

I think I paid you a backhanded compliment there and I apologise (well sort of) ,you just didn't look like I pictured you. I feel 90 most days but probably look it!!

Luckygirl Sat 10-Oct-15 20:23:56

I definitely took it as a compliment!!

Indinana Sat 10-Oct-15 20:42:28

Luckygirl you don't look anything like I imagined you! You're supposed to have short, wavy hair, mid brown in colour. And you definitely shouldn't be wearing glasses! I'm going to struggle to adjust my thinking here grin

Nelliemoser Sat 10-Oct-15 20:45:56

OK! this is really really silly but Luckygirl looks nothing like I had imagined she would; but what I imagined her to be like I do not know!

Does anyone else have these pre-conceptions of how someone they have sort of got to know on here had this feeling?

Purpledaffodil Sat 10-Oct-15 20:48:58

Age 66, busy year 1949 apparently. Also another one who has had a sapphire wedding anniversary this year. Ditto 1970! Live in NW Surrey. Retired teacher too. Begin to feel like a stereotype grin
What interesting photos, nobody looks as I imagined. But the same thing was true at the only meet up I have been to.
Photo right way up in thumbnail. Sideways now oddly.

Nelliemoser Sat 10-Oct-15 20:49:27

B* hell, my post about Luckygirl" crossed with *Indinana's by 3 minutes.

Nelliemoser Sat 10-Oct-15 20:52:09

And Annsixty thought the same!

Ana Sat 10-Oct-15 20:53:00

I've only ever had a vague impression of what posters look like in my head, but I must admit some of these photos have come as a bit of a surprise! grin

Luckygirl Sat 10-Oct-15 20:53:23

Yes - several preconceptions have been blown out of the water for me too!

Gagagran Sat 10-Oct-15 20:56:21

You all seem so thrilled to see each other! Well I must be a real oddball because I wish we hadn't had this thread and these photos. My mental pictures of everyone have been shattered and I preferred it before when I could only imagine what GNs looked like. I actually feel quite sad now I know.

Am I the only one who feels like this? confused

annsixty Sat 10-Oct-15 20:57:35

Some very very attractive Grans I am pleased to say. We deserve a better profile. I will post when I have use of my i-Pad but I am 78 so don't expect too much!!

thatbags Sat 10-Oct-15 21:00:52

I don't think I had any preconceptions about people's appearance, or if I did the preconceptions were very ethereal and evaporated so fast I didn't know I'd had them. So, no, not sad at all. It's lovely to see people's faces.

annsixty Sat 10-Oct-15 21:02:20

No Gagagran I think this is a lovely and revealing thread.

janerowena Sat 10-Oct-15 22:07:26

No, I haven't looked at it until now and I think it's wonderful.

Rapidly heading for 60, 1 Ex, 1 current, 1 DC with each, 2 GCs, was an accountant (v. boring) until my mid-life crisis, when I changed career and husband and became a gardener.

Love recycling, cashmere, preserving, reading, singing, language of any kind, hate waste, my next door neighbour, cat poo, men who talk to my cleavage and rappers.

Me last month with my girls.

thatbags Sat 10-Oct-15 22:08:03

ephemeral, not ethereal

NanKate Sat 10-Oct-15 22:12:50

How do you post a photo on the thread please ? Hope it's dead easy. grin

Indinana Sat 10-Oct-15 22:13:09

Well in for a penny.... Here I am with my daughter at her baby shower four months ago

Indinana Sat 10-Oct-15 22:13:47

Oh well that didn't work... Let's try again

Lona Sat 10-Oct-15 22:15:49

Fascinating isn't it? I think Luckygirl and Jings, and Ana are the most surprising for me but it all seems more friendly now somehow!
sunshine

janerowena Sat 10-Oct-15 22:18:34

It does. smile (being careful not to ignore Lona) grin

TriciaF Sat 10-Oct-15 22:23:00

What a lovely thread, so interesting smile
Well I'm the oldest so far - 79.
And I managed to post a picture but lost it - I'll try again tomorrow.
I have 3 children, and a stepdaughter. 3 grandchildren, and 4 adopted grandchildren.
We live in France, for 14 years now.

Ana Sat 10-Oct-15 22:23:49

I agree, Lona, I think we can sometimes lose sight of the fact that the posters we're exchanging posts with are real people, not just usernames.

(sorry I'm not blonde, but I tried it once and it was a disaster...shock grin)

merlotgran Sat 10-Oct-15 22:36:59

DH takes ages to take a photo because he can't focus grin and it's a nightmare getting Peggy to sit still for longer than thirty seconds.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 10-Oct-15 22:47:36

Yep! That's just how I imagined merlot to be. smile
