Stating the Bl* * * * * g obvious!

I find that programme very amusing. I watched one recently (rainy afternoon) - this couple, the woman had dragged her husband back to the UK from Australia against his wishes, and then found fault with every house they were showed "too noisy for the cats" was one reason. It often really shows up who the difficult one in a relationship is.

I hate it when they walk into a kitchen with more square feet than my entire house and whinge that it's too small.

roses - I would! Well, I wouldn't be too keen on actually APPEARING on the prog, but I would very much like Phil (not Kirsty) to find me a house. We've moved a lot and finding somewhere that ticks all the boxes (Aaaargh!) is a nightmare, not helped by DH who detests driving around the countryside looking at useless properties and moans the whole time. Phil sat next to me at an airport once. He was consulting his diary and I could see he had a line through a whole week with 'filming' written across it, so it was defo him. He could find me a house anytime.

We had a thread last year about Escape to the country, and all the things that annoyed us ( there were quite a lot.) I remember the most annoying was ' the big kitchen, the heart of the home!' If the home has a heart ( it doesn't) it would be the sitting room for most of us normal people.
But then what normal people want to go on a tv programme in order to find a house that suits them?

I get the impression that most of them end up buying the cheapest, biggest reduction etc.
But as others have said, don't watch them now, unless it's about France.
Most of the foreign ones are quite old anyway.

I have watched these occasionally - people seem to love the most utterly grim places.

I no longer watch those programmes, people seem to expect to buy a luxury apartment/villa for peanuts.

To be fair it does get quite cold on winter nights in Spain (even in the south!)

We live on a fairly busy road. I can honestly say I don't notice the traffic

I love/hate those programmes. we are moved to tears by the plight of the poor people who only have £800,00 + to find their Escape to the Country and just can't find their 'dream' house as all the Georgian rectories have been sold. My favourite was the one where a woman could buy the otherwise perfect house as the field outside had an uphill slope and her horses didn't go uphill! Big scream from me when they 'tick all the boxes'.

I think they all expect to be able to buy a modern city style dwelling at peasant hovel prices, and are quite unreasonably annoyed when they find it doesn't work like that anymore. I've watch a few over the years, usually when I am ill, and I watch it just because it makes me laugh so much!
