Do you, or did you used to enjoy horse riding?

shysal Fri 16-Oct-15 08:39:55

NO! The only housewifely thing I enjoy is baking.

Describe your engagement ring, if you have one, and do you wear it all the time?

NotTooOld Fri 16-Oct-15 17:51:28

Had one the first time around, it was a sort of twist with three tiny diamonds. I'm saving if for my DiL but I don't wear it.

What was your first job after leaving school?

Grandma2213 Sat 17-Oct-15 02:32:53

Tricky one, as I had several jobs when at school, university and college - shop assistant, waitress, old folks home, metal box factory, post lady (person), chambermaid, barmaid and several more holiday jobs. There were two periods of time out, lasting more than 8 months, as an assistant in a TV Hire shop and a ward maid in a hospital but then I finally ended up as a teacher. Even then I went from Primary to Secondary to Special Needs.

Is there one person in your life (apart from parents) who has had a profound influence on you?

ninathenana Sat 17-Oct-15 08:38:42

One of my primary school teachers Mrs Ryder, she was lovely and inspired my love of literature.

Did you play sport when younger ? If so which one. Or maybe you still do !

Indinana Sat 17-Oct-15 10:53:04

Only the usual school sports. I don't play now (should do!)

Have you had your central heating on this year yet?

NotTooOld Sat 17-Oct-15 21:56:12

Yes - and DH has lit the woodburner this evening, too. I don't know why as it is not very cold at all. I think he just likes playing with fire. It's too hot for me so I've brought my laptop in here where it's cooler.

What's your favourite chocolate bar - or do you never eat chocolate?

ninathenana Sat 17-Oct-15 22:18:18

Despite being +size I only eat chocolate 3-4 times a year. It would probably be mint aero.

Do you eat supper, meaning a snack before bed.

Grandma2213 Sat 17-Oct-15 23:52:33

Aaargh... crisps are my downfall! One packet leads to another (and another), especially on my late night GN visits!

Do you dry washing on radiators?

shysal Sun 18-Oct-15 06:55:25

No. I tumble dry towels, pants and socks, and the rest I hang on two racks hanging from the rails of bunk beds in spare (junk) room. Hang outside whenever possible though.

How many of your own teeth do you have?

Leticia Sun 18-Oct-15 07:54:33

All of them.

Do you enjoy gardening.

Bellanonna Sun 18-Oct-15 11:51:06

Enjoy being out in it and trying to keep it tidy. We have it pruned once a year

Do you ever wear skirts/dresses? How often on average if you do?

shysal Sun 18-Oct-15 12:43:45

I haven't worn a skirt since the day I retired.

What do you think of the artificially coloured cut flowers and heather plants which the supermarkets sell?

ninathenana Sun 18-Oct-15 12:57:01

Not a lot !!

How often do you buy cut flowers?

Bellanonna Sun 18-Oct-15 13:47:58

If someone's coming

When did you last have shoes heeled ? I can't even remember when.

NotTooOld Sun 18-Oct-15 19:35:07

Not for years. I took a pair of favourite sandals in back in the Summer in the hope they could be re-heeled but the man said 'Lady, go treat yourself to a new pair'.

Did you ever wear winkle pickers? (I did.)

LuckyDucky Sun 18-Oct-15 23:43:11

All about horses:
Are you going to expand on your horsey question Soontobe?

I've loved horses since I used to pull myself upright in my cot and listen to the clip clop of the milkman on his rounds. We lived in Melbourne then. Incidentally, was milk was delivered by horse and cart in the early 50s - in the UK?

I'm a fan of dressage. Anyone interested? I know it's a niche sport, but it would be great to exchange opinions and information as my family and friends aren't interested.

ninathenana Mon 19-Oct-15 11:41:18

LuckyDucky
The horse question was posted on 11/9/15 there are 7 pages of questions since smile

Would you like to pose your own question?

Can I politely suggest that you may have more response to your horsey discussions if you start a new thread

shysal Mon 19-Oct-15 11:48:14

LuckyDucky, this is a confusing thread for newcomers as it is part 2 of the one which explained the idea of it. You answer the previous poster's question, than asks one for the next person. A bit mindless really, but I like it!smile

ninathenana Mon 19-Oct-15 14:35:34

shysal I hadn't though about it being part2 smile
Shall I get us back on track?

No never worn winkle pickers

Is there one thing you'd like to do but nerves stop you ?

Grandma2213 Tue 20-Oct-15 01:25:05

Dive into a swimming pool. The thought terrifies me!

What was the best day of your life?

Leticia Wed 21-Oct-15 07:29:26

Too many to narrow down.
Probably the days that I gave birth.

What is your favourite wet day activity?

shysal Wed 21-Oct-15 07:48:28

Sewing. Today I plan to make seat cushion covers for my leather sofa which has split.

Are you lethal with a pair of secateurs?

Bellanonna Wed 21-Oct-15 13:18:41

Slightly ruthless when it's needed

Do you always remember shopping bags ? I had to pay my 5p yesterday but it was just a small number of things.

ninathenana Wed 21-Oct-15 14:52:28

Yes, I have taking my own bags for as long as I can remember.

Apart from a possibly failing body/looks (like me grin) is there one thing that bugs you about being older

Grandma2213 Thu 22-Oct-15 00:38:14

The way time seems to have speeded up. The days/weeks/months/years just fly by!

Do you shop in Charity Shops? I just bought a lovely coat for DGD for 99p!
