I live in a lovely county in England with my DH who is from this area. My DD lives close by with 2 of my 3 DGC all born here I also have my sister + BIL close by. But every now + then I miss my homeland. I'm still very patriotic towards it. I have spent most of my life here. With my familyand been very happy but there's still a little bit of a tug on the heart strings

You're welcome Cherrytree. I'm originally from Ireland, met my DH at a friend's wedding and moved to the UK as soon as we married (44 years ago!). He is English, born and bred and was gainfully employed at the time so it made sense. As others have said, it is really family I miss as there have been huge changes 'at home' over the years. Or, maybe I just hanker after the past. hmm

I think your probably right Mrshat. Just nostalgia for times past. Never been to the Emerald isles. Hope to visit next year

I left my home town at 2 1/2 and only returned at 49. During all of my adult life I longed to come back, hoped, prayed and wished on stars. At last I got the chance to buy a little house here and have now been back home for 21 years.
Never give up hope. Roots run very deep.
