Day One of my personal challenge, no alcohol for September - anyone care to join me ...? brew

Anya Mon 05-Oct-15 23:03:14

Hope the 'mothering' went well? Or as well as can be expected.

I had an 'I fancy a drink' moment but it passed.

Where's everyone else?

Come on, fess up, even if it's not what you aimed for wink

Maggiemaybe Mon 05-Oct-15 23:34:03

6387 steps today smile.

I was babysitting, but took myself off for a 40 minute yomp in the drizzle while DGS2 was napping (I didn't leave him alone - DH was there too grin).

jogginggirl Tue 06-Oct-15 11:33:42

That's 6,343 steps already today - and in the sunshine

Off to visit poorly DD - with flowers, fresh ironing, goodies, gentle hugs and lots of love (heart emoticon please)

High five to the runners/walkers ...

Anya Tue 06-Oct-15 11:44:35

Managed 4045 on school run this morning, though half of it was at dawdling pace. Still, should clock up decent score after school pick up.

Impressed with drizzle yomp Maggie it's hard to motivate that first step outside in dreary weather. Hope DD is feeling better today JG? Did you take your steps at running/jogging pace?

jogginggirl Tue 06-Oct-15 12:11:05

Some jogging, some walking - easing myself back in wink

Ana Tue 06-Oct-15 14:07:55

Not doing well, I'm afraid, only managed 4,039 yesterday but at least that's an improvement on the previous day!

I must admit it's been an eye-opener to discover just how little walking I actually do on an ordinary day. There's no getting away from it, I'm going to have to 'go for a walk' much more often.

Trouble is, I live on a busy main road and it's no fun being buffeted in the slipstream of juggernauts and lorries, plus nowhere to walk to unless it's the papershop. I can't even pick the GDs up from school and walk them home as it's about 6 miles away...grin

Anya Tue 06-Oct-15 14:13:14

Hmm....let's have a think, see if we can come up with some ideas.

Anya Tue 06-Oct-15 14:16:54

Do you drive?

Ana Tue 06-Oct-15 14:19:04

Yes - I know I'm going to have to drive to a good walking area and just get on with it. Wish I had a dog, though (no, I can't borrow one!).

Anya Tue 06-Oct-15 14:28:48

You can clock up loads of steps in shopping centres too. I once did 12,000+ in Liverpool.

Anya Tue 06-Oct-15 14:30:22

Time for school pick up and then Panto practice. Ever tried to put on a Panto with only four children (4, 5, nearly 6 and 9) grin ?

jogginggirl Tue 06-Oct-15 14:57:43

Oh no it's not ... grin

Maggiemaybe Tue 06-Oct-15 15:14:09

I'm doing well today so far [smug emoticon]. I decided to go to town, walking over a mile to and from the bus stop at the crossroads instead of using the one at the end of our street. Saving a bit of money and adding a few steps to my pedometer [there's that smug face again]. Then I did a lot of traipsing round town. Up to the out of town Aldi in the hope that they'd restocked their miraculous caviar face-cream that apparently all went within half an hour of opening on Sunday. They hadn't, but I bought some spotty wellies, as you do. Then I went to the other side of town to order the new oven we looked at last week.

10962 steps so far shock. And we will be walking up to our local quiz night tonight, weather permitting, so I should have more. I'll be banking some for tomorrow, in case my Nana duties stop me getting out and about.

DGS2 is already oddly fascinated by my feet - the weird, stunted little toes, the bunion, the mole on the sole. So it'll be another "What's that on your foot, Nana?" when he sees the hideous blister on my heel!

jogginggirl Tue 06-Oct-15 21:47:56

DD looking a bit brighter but still very sore - she loved her flowers xx and her ironing ...lol
I've just remived the Fitbit and total steps today is 9,395 - happy with that smile
Not sure I'll get many done tomorrow - dental appointment, but followed by visit to old friends smile
Some impressive step totals so far ladies - nice work smilewink

Ana Tue 06-Oct-15 21:50:42

Not by me. I don't know how you all do it - I feel exhausted at the thought of doing that many. Big failure. I'm out...sad

Anya Tue 06-Oct-15 22:06:34

6656 today. Not a big failure Ana you've hit 4000+ ....getting there.

Oh yes she is!!

Anya Tue 06-Oct-15 22:32:05

I feel a bit of a failure as I've had a few drinks and I have a headache now. My tolerance for alcohol is much lower now....not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

jogginggirl Tue 06-Oct-15 22:34:07

You can't fail with 4000+ steps Ana - maybe take part every other day - please stay - flowers

Ana Tue 06-Oct-15 22:41:02

Thanks you two - was having a wobble and will start afresh tomorrow!

Anya, not sure whether to commiserate or tell you to lay off the plonk for good! grin

(I think, on balance, commiseration is best...wink)

Anya Tue 06-Oct-15 22:41:32

This isn't a competition Ana - the target is 5000, don't be put off by bigger 'scores'. In future I'll just say 'achieved 5000' or log my lower score. Howzat? smile

I've actually had a pretty trying day, what with DiL first thing this morning angry leaving me to take two weeping children to school, then her b****y mother on the phone for an hour, moaning. Then my granddog being very, very sick. So there! Now I've had a moan too, and that's my excuse for hitting the wine not to mention the weather.

Happy days hmm

Anya Tue 06-Oct-15 22:42:44

Battery fading moon

Ana Tue 06-Oct-15 22:43:19

x posts - commiseration definitely in order! smile

jogginggirl Tue 06-Oct-15 22:49:41

Good thinking Anya - I'll do the same smile

Sounds like you've had a VERY trying day - better to have a drink and a moan than commit murder shout at everyone! flowers for you too X

Look forward to 'seeing' you tomorrow Ana smile

Maggiemaybe Tue 06-Oct-15 23:26:05

Ana, I shall be lucky if I do 1000 tomorrow, at DGS2's pace! His legs are only short and he likes to backtrack to examine leaves and cracks in the pavement, so he will probably do 5000, but I've no chance!

I'll keep my daily totals to myself, and just let you know if I manage the 35000 by Sunday night.

Anya Wed 07-Oct-15 07:01:57

Thanks for flowers and commiseration. A new day and great we've all pulled together and set some guidelines. Don't disappear off the daily radar maggie though smile

'See' you all tonight at least
