Just seen the latest proposal of that possible Labour leader he wants women only carriages n trains, some of his ideas are stupid hope he does not win, because things like renationalisation of rail etc costs money, to pay for most of his ideas in his world , it would increase the basic rate of Income Tax to 35%.

thatbags My post obviously misled and confused you but I thought almost everybody was aware that JC is left wing.

I was trying to point out that if he had advocated spending large amounts of money on policing the underground, right wing newspapers would immediately say that that was typical of the left - being profligate with public money.

Don't hold back about Donald Trump Jen smile - I am not sure I would call him and idiot but I do think he is dangerous.

Gracesgran I agree, he can't be an idiot, but he comes across as one - is that carefully cultivated do you think?
And I agree that he is dangerous. The word 'redneck' comes to mind, not sure what the exact definition is and I don't think is his background, but it still seems to define him imo.

Walter was a member of the party for about sixty years , he heckled during a speech by Jack Straw, he was removed by stewards, he was back in the hall next day to loud applause , following year Walter was on the party's National Executive Committe . He was a founder member of CND with Michael Foot

When he was evicted the press omitted to report other party members were evicted for voicing their anger at the trestment of Walter . I can say this with certainty because I was in the hall when it happen . I also heard him speak at the Stop the war demo in 2007,

OK, no prob.

durhamjen Wed 26-Aug-15 20:15:57

I didn't mean it like that, bags. It just seemed strange that nobody else was butting in.

Ana Wed 26-Aug-15 20:13:06

I'm sure there are some who'd love to get rid of us, roses! grin

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 20:11:56

Better behave eh?

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 20:11:08

So if the Labour Party heavies could do that, it was a wonder that Donald Trump's people managed to restrain themselves.Could we be grabbed by our scruffs and chucked off the forum?shock

thatbags Wed 26-Aug-15 20:06:50

Oops! Sorry, I mean gracesgran not gknot. Apologies to both blush

thatbags Wed 26-Aug-15 20:05:15

I remember seeing a recording of that incident too, roses. It looked quite shocking to me.

thatbags Wed 26-Aug-15 20:04:22

I'm allowed to talk to myself. So is everyone else. Do wish you'd stop sounding so crabby, dj.

elo, I thought a post of yours implied that someone calling Corbyn a "typical left-winger" was somehow not nice. I wondered why so, as gknot says, I checked to see if he is a typical left-winger, and discovered that he is so I remained baffled as to why calling him one would be a problem. He doesn't appear to be ashamed of being a left-winger himself and there's no reason why he should. As I said earlier.

I'm allowed to be baffled by odd things people say too.

Walter Jakob Wolfgang aged 82.

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 19:28:36

I well remember the rough treatment meted out to a disabled man who heckled at a Labour Party meeting, he was grabbed by a couple of heavies who literally threw him out of the door! It made the news on tv a while ago, maybe it was Gordon Brown speaking?

soontobe Wed 26-Aug-15 19:23:44

He then had him back in again and answered his questions.
The spanish man had been heckling Trump, or at least being persistent in his questions when he had not been acknowledged to speak.

But it is possible that Trump regularly ignored this reporter but I am not sure on that.

I also dont know the media protocol, but I presume that the man at the front is in charge of the media at those times, and therefore has the authority to have a member of the media removed?

I am also not sure what the protocol is in removing someone who is being rude.

durhamjen Wed 26-Aug-15 19:06:28

Trump threw out a Spanish Mexican news reporter when the reporter asked him about his immigration policy. I do not think that was very intelligent.

Gracesgran Wed 26-Aug-15 19:02:57

I think you were just doing a bit of research weren't you thatbags? I see Jeremy Corbyn as a very recognisable left-winger but that may not help.

Don't hold back about Donald Trump Jensmile - I am not sure I would call him and idiot but I do think he is dangerous.

Ana Wed 26-Aug-15 19:00:27

I've seen you do it quite often, dj, although admittedly usually when no one has replied to your previous post(s).

TerriBull Wed 26-Aug-15 18:56:40

My mother took to talking to herself towards the end of her life and when I asked her why, she replied, "because I get very sensible replies", I can't speak for Thatbags of course!

durhamjen Wed 26-Aug-15 18:43:20

Thatbags, why are you talking to yourself all the time?

Soon, Donald Trump is an idiot.

soontobe Wed 26-Aug-15 17:48:31

41 economists out of approx 2500 thatbags, as far as I know.

I agree with vampirequeen's post of 12.57pm

dj - I dont consider it will be a punishment for him to speak out and generate headlines.
Donald Trump is thriving on it in USA politics.

Eloethan Wed 26-Aug-15 17:46:28

Who said he wasn't anti-austerity thatbags? I was merely pointing out that he would be accused of "throwing money" at the problem if he was calling for lots of extra policing on the underground. In some quarters, whatever he did would be criticised but nobody else seems to be that concerned that sexual assaults on women are becoming more commonplace.

thatbags Wed 26-Aug-15 17:06:17

I suppose they're descriptive labels. And the problem with that is...?

thatbags Wed 26-Aug-15 17:04:18

And I see from this article in the Independent that he's regarded as left-wing.

So spending more on the police where needed is completely in accordance with his being an anti-austerity, left-wing democratic socialist, as I thought and which is why I wondered how it could be at all problematic to mention his left-winginess or his anti-austerity stance.

Left wing and anti-austerity 'labels' are not insults, but descriptions. Nothing wrong with being a typical left-winger.

thatbags Wed 26-Aug-15 16:58:49

I seehe has economists' backing for his anti-austerity policies, so that answers that bit.

Back to google...

thatbags Wed 26-Aug-15 16:55:50

heads googlewards...
