Why did you choose your name?

People's usernames intrigue me - I've got clear pictures in my head of what people look/sound like based on them grin. So I was wondering how they came about? Mine is because that is what my first grandson called me for ages before he could properly say 'Grandma'. I also like gammon but that's not the reason!

because I am what is says on the tin grin...so I am told frequently..

LyndaW Thu 20-Aug-15 12:36:01

I wish I'd chosen something more funny/intriguing now....

Bellasnana Thu 20-Aug-15 12:48:36

Me too, LyndaW sad

Nothing like my own name but a combination of the names of two strong female ancestors that I identity with and admire.

So good I said it twice (sorry!)

Grannyeggs Thu 20-Aug-15 13:28:40

My family called me Eggy or Eggs, my brothers still do!

Coolgran65 Thu 20-Aug-15 13:33:14

I wanted to sound cool and I was 65 when I joined.

Katek Thu 20-Aug-15 13:49:14

Middle name and just an initial. Not very inspiring I'm afraid.

Charleygirl Thu 20-Aug-15 13:49:36

It was the name of my previous cat who was male and I added the word girl to show what sex I am.

ninathenana Thu 20-Aug-15 13:49:55

It's connected to my real name. Not saying anymore smile

Anniebach Thu 20-Aug-15 14:00:07

Mine is half of my full name and the bach was added by my grandfather from babyhood

I had just been on holiday there.

Tegan Thu 20-Aug-15 14:04:25

I had an internet chum who, if I was nervous about something, would say 'Brave Heart, Tegan'; a quote from his beloved Dr Who [we met on a Dr Who forum]. He is, alas, long since gone but his words stay with me #thanksalan

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_W._Lear
that won't work; I can't get on wikipedia these days....sad

Lilygran Thu 20-Aug-15 14:13:54

Sort of anagram.

LyndaW Thu 20-Aug-15 14:17:25

Why do they call your eggs Grannyeggs? Does it sound like your 'real' name?

Indinana Thu 20-Aug-15 14:44:02

My old username was an anagram; my new one is a mix of one of my GC and me - and a play on the US state (not that I look a state, you understand wink)

Indinana Thu 20-Aug-15 14:45:16

Though I do sometimes hmm

KatyK Thu 20-Aug-15 15:02:07

I too wish I'd chosen something clever and intriguing. I didn't give it enough thought.

PRINTMISS Thu 20-Aug-15 15:05:04

I was going to be MISPRINT, but I didn't like that, so I just turned it round and added the S. Spent a long time in the print shop.

Maggiemaybe Thu 20-Aug-15 15:18:21

The Maggie's what I am, and my dad used to call me Maggie May (and sing that inappropriate song about walking down Lime Street to me as a lullaby grin). Apparently another GNer had already baggsied the name, so I had to extend it.

Nonnie Thu 20-Aug-15 15:23:50

For no good reason at all!

newist Thu 20-Aug-15 15:32:12

Mine is a play on words from where I live
