Those photographs

Here they are!

I didn't exactly 'like' Diana, but I always felt sorry for her. It was pretty obvious to anybody who knew about relationships that Charles didn't love her, but the media hyped it all up and yes, she was duped. I thought it was a pity that she didn't have the guidance of a wise mother who was close to her and could say to her 'don't do it darling, get a life instead'.

No I wasn't a Diana can either. DP and IbWent for a walk on the wedding day too. And I found all the hysteria that accompanied her death very creepy. Worked near St James's Park and all the people who hadn't known her pouring out of the tube station with their rather sad floral offerings puzzled me and rather appalled me.

Tegan I'm sure I read at the time that it wasn't meant to look like that.
Too much dress and not enough room in the car/carriage can't remember which was too blame.

I wasn't a Diana fan and I'm afraid that photoshopped image of her looking at Princess Charlotte and Kate gave me the creeps!

Not being fervent royalists, we were walking up Snowdon the day of the wedding. We knew that we would see infinite repeats of it and we certainly did. Other parties of walkers - not very many that day - were carrying ghetto blasters so that they could listen to the wedding.

Has it ever been established whether 'the dress' should have looked as creased as it did?

I haven't seen the photos discussed in the OP ... is there a link? I'm just being nosy.

On a similar note, someone posted a Photoshopped picture recently (I think I saw it on Twitter) where Diana is peering over Kate's shoulder looking at baby Charlotte. It was strange, but weirdly nice too. I'll see whether I can find it. The things people do!

I was watching the wedding of Charles and Diana at work on the dementia unit in the mental hospital. We had arranged all the ladies so that they could all see the TV. There was one lady that never spoke or looked as if she was interested in anything. All of a sudden she said "oh, they're getting married", in a very loud voice. We were amazed! But I digress, the photos on the papers are delightful. A backstairs view of palace life on a very special day.

I was staying on an island in Germany and we watched the wedding in the guest house, there was a gasp of surprise when everyone saw the wedding dress. Germans and English alike thought that the poor girl had what looked like a crumpled bed sheet for a dress.
I do like the candid photographs and feel sorry that she was duped.
DD wrote a poem to celebrate the marriage and it was sent to the palace, she received a lovely letter thanking her for her thoughts.
