Today I am conducting a choir of 200 in a concert at the Three Choirs Festival - with an audience of about 900 so far, and there will be more as lots of people buy on the door.

I have rehearsals all afternoon; then the concert in the evening, and I will be on my knees as my stamina is poor.

None of my family are able to come - they are working, breast feeding or have PD (my OH) - so I have no-one there who is rooting for me.

So........please think of me this evening and wish me luck!!

Have a wonderful time, the adrenaline will keep you going! It's a wonderful event, I know. Luckily for you, you won't have to look at the sea of faces! grin That's quite scary.

Best wishes Luckygirl, I'm sure adrenalin will kick in as soon as you start and that you will really enjoy it. xxx

Wow. Wish I was going. Sounds lovely. I'm sure you'll be tired at the end of it as it will be physically and mentally draining, but the adrenaline will keep you going. Just as well about the name change on an occasion like this! Look forward to hearing about it tomorrow and a possible you tube excerpt?

flowers I meant to say for you and no doubt wine after all that effort.

ninathenana Sun 02-Aug-15 08:32:03

I was hoping to see how it went. Maybe luckygirl is rewarding herself with a lie in smile

Nelliemoser Sun 02-Aug-15 08:43:26

I have just logged in to find out how Luckygirl did as well.
Perhaps she sleeping in.

Nelliemoser Sun 02-Aug-15 08:45:50

And I obviously didn't read ninathenana's post. I said exactly the same thing. Must get some food inside me.

Hope it went well Lucky and that you had a great time.

It was brilliant!! - there were moments that were quite close to the wire, but the audience would not have known!

I got through it with no "mishaps"! It was a wonderfully uplifting event with something for everyone, and so many people came up afterwards to say what a lovely evening they had had. It was colourful (we all wear the brightest tops we can find), emotional, uplifting, funny - lots of changes of mood during the concert. And I think we had 1,000 there.

Our S African baritone soloist led a medley of African songs which were great fun.

I am so lucky to be asked to do this - it has been 2 years of very hard work indeed - choosing the music, the soloist, the composer, singing the parts to CD for the choirs to learn from, teaching the music, organising massed rehearsal ........... and more.

There are lots of things that I have been saying I will do once this is over, and now I have to get stuck into them - organising the local villages autumn arts festival is top of the list.

But first I will have a rest!

Thanks for all your support - it would have been lovely to have you all there.

Great news, LG. It sounds like a wonderful evening for both performers and audience. It's good to see you so buoyed up and enthusiastic, looking forward to orgaising that festival. Just don't forget that rest! sunshine

Nelliemoser Sun 02-Aug-15 11:36:38

Luckygirl It's so good to hear this, particularly after the tough time you have had this year. This sucess should really give you a boost and restore your confidence. flowers smile smile

Yes - it was lovely to do something that has always been a big part of my life, but on hold while I was ill. My family really did not want me to do it, as they thought it would be too much, but I knew that if I didn't I would feel I had let myself down. Getting through it - and it being such a success - is a real boost for me.

Thanks for all your encouraging messages.

Fantastic Luckygirl what an achievement. I didn't read your OP until later yesterday, when you would have left for the rehearsals. I was thinking of you last night wishing you luck as well and have been wondering how it went all day, bet you couldn't get to sleep last night. flowers
