Music to relax to

Verdi's Requiem, anything with plain chant, and Allegri's Misiere completely chill me out - so much so that I can't play them when I'm driving

Anyone love the music from the 50s era nat king Cole and the drifters are just 2 of my favorite but also the 50s rock n roll takes me back to a happy time and peps me up for the day but also doo wop music and there is plenty of that still being played on the radio and television adverts ect.

I'm with Luckygirl and Sentimental Sarabande. Memories of grabbing a few minutes peace and quiet while the babies had an afternoon nap.

I discovered a beautiful piece of 'cello music on Youtube last year. It was the background music to a video clip I was interested in. I tried for ages to find out the composer and name of the piece, even sending the link to Classic FM who didn't have a clue. When I went back for another listen it had been removed for reasons of copyright

Why put something up if you don't want others to enjoy it?

Many years ago we were in park guell in Barcelona. There was a young man playing these drums. We bought his CD, wonderful.

I know what you mean. The trouble is there are a lot of groups on Facebook that I'm interested in [local history/sighthounds etc] and it seems to have replaced places like Friends Reunited. There's a page about my childhood home and I can't get onto it without the computer crashing .

Tegan - I am not on Facebook either. I can't stand Facebook. When DH was on it a while ago, I used to have a 'look' at what was going on. It made me feel miserable and left out. DH has deleted his account and I (and consequently he) am much happier without it. I don't feel non-existent. I have made the decision to let them get on with it and I will get on with my life. I do understand though why people feel the need to be on it, it's just not for me. Sorry - didn't mean to sidetrack his thread.

I've listened to utube for years [ditto racingradio] but then a few months ago it all stopped working. I'm too dependant on my computer to fiddle about with it so I'm waiting for Windows 10 to come out so I can get a new one. In the meantime it's very frustrating! I'm sure that someone more technical than me could sort it out in five minutes. I often suspect that AOL [who are always offering me updates of various kinds] sometimes make life difficult for me #oramibeingcynical [pooter also crashes on a regular basis and I then have to log onto everything again; as for Facebook it seems to groan whenever I try to look at [spyon] my family and I want to go on Facebook myself as I feel not being on it make me non existent [even though I won't have any friends on it [sob]]....

Tegan if you can get onto Gransnet I am sure that you can also get YouTube. Just type Youtube.com into your search engine and voilá it should appear then type in the name of the song and singer. The place you type this in is in the box just to the right of the Youtube logo. Do hope it works for you.

With regard to RacingRadio is this the name of a station or racing in general? I get some sport via Freeview as this has radio stations as well as tv.

I still can't get onto utube. I found some wonderful music by Aziza Brahim when I was going through an Asian music phase a while back; the good thing about utube is the way that the bit at the side introduces you to other music in the same mould. I really must get my computer sorted; can't get onto Racingradio either . Sometimes would find whole albums that I wouldn't necessarily want to buy but loved listening to; and example being The Garden of Jane Delawney by Trees [darn it; want to listen to it now, and also want to listen to early Santana].
