Accused of racism

As I have been accused of racism on another thread I would like to make it clear that I am not and have never been a racist.

There is no need for anyone to reply to this post. I simply want to put it on record that the accusation is base and false.

I don't see why we can't have warlocks too. They could fly on jet washers or spades although I'm not sure how they feel about wearing the floaty dresses and pearls grin

We need vets to look after the familiars.

Gracesgran Thu 09-Jul-15 17:58:06

Isn't that one area where "witches are doin it for themselves" Galen?

You can have either male or female witches. I don't think you would want warlocks, in or out of floaty dresses or pearls vampirequeen

I thought a warlock was a male witch. Has the word gone out of use or does it mean something else?

What would the men like to wear?

Gracesgran Fri 10-Jul-15 00:03:16

I think it means a bad witch - possibly thrown out of his coven. vampirequeen. However, warlocks have never come up in the Merrily Watkins series - my source of knowledge for paganism and witchcraft - so I could be wrong smile

Have we have any men wanting to join yet?

vampirequeen Fri 10-Jul-15 13:09:43

I don't think any have applied. Maybe they're waiting to find out what rituals we might like to take part in.

Perhaps none of us has been accused of racism; sexism, ageism, little Englanderism, xenophobia, nimbyism, - perhaps, probably, almost certainly - but not the one that matters for this coven?

I have always seen myself as a potential warlock rather than a witch, and I'm game for any decent (or are we contemplating the opposite?) ritual.

annodomini Fri 10-Jul-15 14:41:37

I thought a warlock was the same as a wizard. In Tam o' Shanter Burns refers to 'Witches and warlocks in a dance...' Are there any warlocks in the Harry Potter series? I know Harry and the lads are wizards. Is Hermione a witch? Perhaps we could have a web chat with JK Rowling! I'm a Scottish witch and I'm sure there must be some interesting herbs growing in the jungle that I call my garden and my familiar has to be a large ginger cat. My broomstick is turbo charged and has tartan cushions.

grumppa Fri 10-Jul-15 15:32:08

Wizard would nicely.

grumppa Fri 10-Jul-15 15:32:47

Correction: Wizard would do nicely.

vampirequeen Fri 10-Jul-15 15:59:34

Oh please let's not make all our rituals decent.

rubylady Fri 10-Jul-15 17:18:33

I've just been accused of being racist by my DS. I'm watching the men's semi-final of Wimbledon and he said that sport is racist because we support someone from a certain country and don't want someone else to win from another country. Is this racism or far too PC in his thinking?

I still want Andy to win though over Roger. grin

Alea Fri 10-Jul-15 17:22:30

That is just silly overthinking.

vampirequeen Fri 10-Jul-15 17:48:16

It's not racist. I suppose, at a push, it could be nationalist but hell it's only two men batting a ball over a bit of netting.

vampirequeen Fri 10-Jul-15 17:48:46

Welcome to the coven, rubylady.

Anniebach Fri 10-Jul-15 18:47:49

So when England play Australia for the ashes it's racist to want England to win, and when it comes to the World Cup - there's a lot of racists in the world

annodomini Fri 10-Jul-15 18:57:36

It's not even worth discussing.

vampirequeen Fri 10-Jul-15 19:00:26

It's a PC too far.

Gracesgran Fri 10-Jul-15 19:56:29

I think he is looking for an "ist" that you will call him for his remarks rubylady so that he can join the coven smile

rubylady Sat 11-Jul-15 00:31:12

He has apologised. smile What coven?

vampirequeen Sat 11-Jul-15 09:05:12

We're forming a coven for people who have falsely been accused of racism grin

annodomini Sat 11-Jul-15 09:35:41

Someone once suggested that I was being racist - I won't go into the details - but subsequently apologised.

sunseeker Sat 11-Jul-15 10:55:15

I was called a racist by someone I didn't invite to a BBQ, this despite at least 10 of those invited being black or mixed race. I told him the reason I hadn't invited him was nothing to do with his colour but because of his "profession" - he was a pimp!

Gracesgran Sat 11-Jul-15 13:33:49

I thought we had got to the point of just forming a coven smile.

vampirequeen Sat 11-Jul-15 17:09:46

How many of us are their now? At this rate we'll have to have two covens grin
