I personally think that if someone wants to go to Syria then fine, let them. Provided they are over 18. But they have to agree to forgo their British citizenship, have their passport amended and agree not to come back. After all they are saying this country is not for them. Let them put their future where their brains ought to be.

I don't know about lots DJ, I think many of us do feel that Syrian refugees need some sort of safe haven. The refugee problem has been lumped together with the seismic pan global shift of poorer nationalities moving about the globe, many trying to seek a better life in Europe. Some of the sub Saharan Africans will be economic migrants and hence the dilly dallying as how best to deal with that in the long term. Much of the deliberation at the moment is how to distribute the 40,000 of so migrants in the here and now but in the long term the feasibility of emptying a huge number of people from a larger continent into a smaller one isn't really sustainable but many politicians aren't honest enough to say that. I'm digressing however, there is another thread on that.

I think the reason most of us don't sympathise with these women, as parents and grandparents surely keeping our children safe and not exposing them to horrors would override anything else.

As they've presumably gone to Syria to support IS (why else would they go?) they probably weren't bothered about the 'safety' aspect - unfortunately for the children.

Baroness Warsi was named as Britain's most powerful Muslim woman, so I assume what she says has some authority. As she was in Cameron's government you are the one who should be sticking up for her. She is also a human rights lawyer, so maybe that's why you do not like her.

If they leave their husbands, they dont feel safe in this country. They presume, rightly or wrongly, that some harm will come to them.

My question is. Are there safe houses in Britain for them? I assume there are, but I dont really know.
And who is to say that they know? Or are willing to go down that particular route.
And if and when they were to leave there, where are they going to go in Britain. Presumably people from their community would be on the look out for them.
I suppose they could go to an area in the UK without hardly any muslims. But they are likely to feel uncomfortable. And have little support.

At last we have a police force that will try to protect them. That won't happen in Syria.

I could go on, but my point is that it's a bit rich to single us out, there is plenty of national resentment all over the place it's not the preserve of Britons. This country has been better than most in assimilating foreigners, I'm glad to say that because some of my forebears came to this country to build a new life.

Refugees are very different to those joining ISIS dj from this country and from choice.

Those joining IS definitely shouldn't be allowed back under any circumstances; they've made the decision to support terrorists and therefore forfeit the right to return here and potentially recruit more.

Clearly these women don't want to be here therefore let them live with their decision,; sadly their children will probably be corrupted too and that's the consequence of their mothers' decision.

With the numbers entering the USA illegally from Central and South America I can understand the wish to fence the border, it's thousands of miles long and drug and gun running is also a horrendous problem where drug barons rule.
There was a programme about it a couple of weeks ago so I can understand why he made that statement. There are few policed border crossings so thousands come in illegally, mainly economic migrants from South America.
