today I have been a slob

Absolutely whitewave and why not?
Not very often and I usually feel guilty afterwards but I call it a 'brain rest day', very necessary at times!

Hey why not - love days like that, but only once in a while. Fab ;)

Been really busy today- teaching all morning, decorating all afternoon...

but next week I'll probably have a 'total cabbage' day.

Yep I certainly do have these days too whitewave and am so pleased that I can - one of the perks of being retired and not having to chase your own tail all the time. Funnily enough I usually find that I sleep very well after a "slobby" day as well - not sure why that is though as certainly haven't physically over stretched myself or mentally for that matter - perhaps it's just because I'm relaxed.

Yes, I do too. I can't see the point of being retired if you can't just please yourself and let it all go hang when you feel like it. I seem to have at least 2 days a week like that and I thoroughly enjoy them

I had some jobs to do this morning but decided to not bother and go for a walk with my doggie to a cafe nearby I have been intending to go to for a while. As I haven't been out and about since landing here properly, 8 months ago now, I felt really good that I had made the effort to go out and talk to some new people. A step in the right direction?

And my doggie loved it, a sausage and attention.

Had a very slobby Sunday yesterday. DH tell's me I deserve it after a week looking after him and GS2. Not convinced that his thinking is correct - but who am I to argue

I'm all for slobby days! - except when, as now, I have deadlines to meet and the slobbing about is pure displacement activity! Anyone else need to be under pressure i order to knuckle down and get things done?

I can slob for England and why not? I've worked hard all my life and this is what retirement is for, as I keep reminding my children

I don't slob around much in the summer as I can't wait to get outside although I often feed the chickens in my pyjamas.

The winter is a different matter though. Then I'm like Mishap and need deadlines and a bit of pressure to give me a kick up the whatsit.

Yes definitely.

Yes, at any time, I can just wander from room to room and look at all that needs to be done, then just sit and forget about it. Absolutely refreshing.

Everyone should have the occasional slobby day. It recharges your batteries. It's not natural to be on the move 24/7.

I love slobby days usually I will get showered and put on fresh PJs pile up some magazines needing to be read and feet up sometimes I don't even bother to answer the phone and just ignore everyone and everything it does you the world of good.

I am all in favour of slob days, especially when the batteries need recharging.

I prefer a more positive slant: they are days of rest or days for standing and staring and thinking and reading and having ideas... That isn't slobbing.

A day of doing nothing, and idling my time away is bliss. It is surprising how quickly the time passes when you have nowt to do! Was it Bing Crosbie and ? Who sang about being " busy doing nothing"?

I'm all in favour of a rest day - trouble is DH doesn't do them at all! I feel that I always have to be doing something like he is whizzing about all the time. I've been having a lot of pain lately and was looking forward to nothing today except a meeting of the Charity I'm a trustee of this afternoon but at breakfast he said ' you need a walk we'll go into town'. he's right of course

Today I am going to be more active - so shower in a minute then whizz through the house to tidy up then sort out something for supper tonight - put on 1lb overnight as a result of fish and chips last night then out into the garden and tie in dead head and generally do.

We generally have a slob day when GS has been for the weekend and has gone home. Near total inertia has to be the order of the day. We are generally active people, but I think a day just treading water is bliss now and then.
