Fire!

Thank goodness he is safe aprilgrace, he's so lucky he has such good friends.
I know just what you mean about wanting to go and give him a hug and still hurting for your children.

How very frightening. I am glad that your son is okay and that friends are rallying round.

Very scary to just think about. Yes we still hurt.

How very scary. Although he is thankfully unhurt he must be very upset. Maybe he will come home for some of mums cooking.

What a horrible thing to happen, but thank heavens your DS is safe and unhurt. There was a similar incident in Plymouth recently, where 20 flats in a block were burnt out. So many people made homeless, and many of them low income families unable to afford insurance, so they lost everything. The building didn't have any fire breaks in the roof, so the fire was able to spread easily from one property to the next - I imagine that was the same in your son's flat.
He's lucky to have so many good friends rallying round - at least you don't have to worry about him being without help.

aprilgrace I saw the report of the fire on local news. Thank goodness your son is ok. Wigan is a great community of people who will support all the residents who need help. I hope he soon gets settled in a new home.

So glad your son is OK. Try not to dwell on the 'what ifs'.

aprilgrace thank heaven he's Ok but yes you do feel for them and it horrible to have your home destroyed. DD2 was burgled a few years ago and her home left in a terrible mess - just had to schlepp down there and as you say give her a much appreciated Mumhug- and of course help to clear up. I hope things turn out well for your boy- nice to know he has good friends.

Thanks everyone for your support and kind words. Just spoke to DS and he sounded a happier man tonight.
The fire brigade even went beyond the call of duty
and managed to salvage his car keys, passport and a few clothes.
People are so kind when these disasters happen and he's been overwhelmed by the help and support he's received
He's popping over on Thursday so I can give him that hug!

Good to see things are not as disastrous as they could have been. The flats were on local news again last night and the top floor has been completely lost. Looks like the building will be demolished, they say, and all the residents will be helped to find new accommodation.
