I was never asked to be anything! Which suited me just fine.

DH's claim to fame is that he led his (public) school out on strike! He got six of the best for it too. DGS1 (aged 8) loves hearing about that! DH was a little b****r at school and must have been a real worry to his parents. He now has two degrees and is loved and respected by everyone.

I was prefect, Head of houae and Captain of the Netball team.
They must been short of candidates.

mishap I lived in Rayleigh for a year about 8 years ago in the Sweyne catchment area- its considerable a very desirable school. I went to Clacton County High school when it was a Grammar school run on public school lines and very snobby.

Not me. Vice captain of the swimming team was my one and only claim to fame.

I was Captain of the netball team in the fifth form but never made prefect as I left school after GCEs and all the prefects were picked from the sixth form.

I was too much of a rebel I am afraid! Always getting into trouble - nothing major but just a pain the ass really.

I was never in any school long enough to reach the exalted height but DC were prefects. DS surprised us by being made a fifth year prefect.... think it was the rugby that did it!

I was - I too was in the second tranche and the HM said when he pinned the badge on "This is setting a thief to catch a thief!" I leave you to imagine what I was like at school!

Teetime - I must have gone to school near where you did - I was at the Sweyne School in Rayleigh - sounds posher than it was! Clacton and Frinton were our days out! We lived in Hadleigh.

I wasn't - you had to be from Frinton or one of the large houses on Clacton sea front - I was from council house- the very idea what's she even doing here!!!

DH was Captain of everything as he was so god at sport - creep- he turned down Head Boyship on the grounds that he had too many other Captainacy's to do!!!!

I wasn't. They said only the ones who fit on the stage at assembly, about half of us.
Trouble was, everyone had to do prefect duties. Including supervising say, third years when it was wet in the dinner hour.
And as non-prefects we had no sanctions if anyone misbehaved, unlike the prefects who could give one order mark....

It wasn't anything like the way schools are now as regards discipline, but this duty in particular scared me stiff - and has left me for the rest of my life scared of trying to exercise authority.....

I achieved the distinction of being head server to the teaching staff at lunch time. We were glorified waitresses. We had to ask the teachers what they would like for lunch, then go and get it for them. (They had a special table set for them behind the curtain on the stage in the school hall). We didn't have head girl and boy, or prefects.

Not me - I would have had to be present in school to qualify!

They needed twelve boys and twelve girls. There were only twelve girls left in the Sixth Year, so wel were all prefects.

I was a prefect and would love to have been head girl but our staff diplomatically chose a twin whose sibling was an academic high-flyer. It was a good choice.

I was a prefect but was only made one when two girls left mid school year.
So a second class prefect

Head girl was voted for by the pupils and then given approval by head. I wasn't one of the 'popular girls'

In fact still got the badge somewhere! x

Not me! I tried to blend into the background. At first I read this as 'who was perfect' That would sum up my goody-goody behaviour at school. How boring was/am I!

Do you mean on GN or just generally in RL ?
