Things that you are scared about with the new Tory Government

I have seen a number of posters express deep concern about the conservatives having full power for the next 5 years.

Is it worth having a thread for posters to list their concerns?

I am not sure that other gransnetters can put their minds at ease at all, as it may be a case of wait and see what the conservatives do.

As it's a party post Tegan I doubt he'll be paid - besides he's already going to be getting two political salaries as an MP and mayor of London, plus his earnings as a writer.

I think with Boris it is more a case of keeping your enemies close. Too many people see him as a harmless buffoon, he certainly is not, and Cameron is smart enough to realise that.

durhamjen Mon 11-May-15 15:42:21

Crossed posts, Tegan.

durhamjen Mon 11-May-15 15:41:50

Just being groomed, then, for when he takes his rightful position in the cabinet.

Tegan Mon 11-May-15 15:41:17

It's so Cameron can keep an eye on him but without actually letting him do anything, I guess. Will he get paid for doing err nothing confused?

Riverwalk Mon 11-May-15 15:37:49

Johnson has not been made a Minister without Portfolio in the government - merely a member of Cameron's political cabinet i.e. a party role - not an official role.

Boris Johnson

John Wittingdale - he it has been suggested to be a pawn of Murdoch has Culture - watch out BBC.

rosequartz Mon 11-May-15 15:29:35

Boris has been given a cabinet post of Minister without Portfolio
I have never understood that really - does that mean he has nothing to do, they had to give him something but weren't sure what?

whitewave Mon 11-May-15 15:21:08

Pickles has been pickled.

Riverwalk Mon 11-May-15 15:08:45

If you find it beyond tedious Mollie why are you reading the posts?

You could always start an exciting thread of your own!

soontobe Mon 11-May-15 14:36:08

Most of that link is behind the paywall for me Atqui.

<I feel a crisis of identity!>

soontobe Mon 11-May-15 14:31:05

For you to be clear about me mollie. I rarely read the Guardian. I dont think I have ever been described as left wing before.
I didnt tell you not to be on this thread. Anyone who is not terrified can come on this thread, I have not said that they cannot.

Still very unsure why you keep doing mumsnet links.

You certainly wouldn't like it on MN, durhamjen. I don't think they're keen on links.

durhamjen Mon 11-May-15 14:19:26

Go back to mumsnet, then mollie, if you prefer their balance. I like it here.

durhamjen Mon 11-May-15 14:18:07

This is scary.
Boris has been given a cabinet post of Minister without Portfolio.

mollie65 Mon 11-May-15 14:11:23

no soon I find it tedious that lots of you left wing guardian readers keep going over and over the same thing ad nauseum.
you all know who you are.
at least on mumsnet, there are more on 'the other side' to balance things
by the way this is 'chat' not 'politics' so don't tell those who disagree and are not 'terrified' that we should not be here shock

soontobe Mon 11-May-15 12:59:38

Do you find it tedious to look after people Mollie?

soontobe Mon 11-May-15 12:57:20

She or he started it after me. Perhaps he or she copied me!

soontobe Mon 11-May-15 12:55:44

I rarely see mumsnet. Havent lurked for more than a week.
I will see who started what looks like a similar thread first!
I really dont care much what mumsnet are doing.
I think you are the poster mollie who keeps linking to it for some reason?

I never expect anyones' thread to please everyone.

grumppa Mon 11-May-15 12:48:09

Never sure which is more holier-than-thou, the Guardian or its readership. And many comments about lack of balance would apply equally to the other DM, the red top: just change Tory to Labour. And the Times and DT have regular non-Conservative columnists.

By the way, for the avoidance of doubt, the result of the election was a disappointment to me. So please don't jump to conclusions about my personal political views.

mollie65 Mon 11-May-15 12:43:27

you are getting ideas from mumsnet aren't you
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2375923-To-ask-why-you-are-worried-about-a-Tory-government
it is tedious there as lots of their posters say
and it is beyond tedious here.

soontobe Mon 11-May-15 11:36:37

It is indeed uncertain times 12Michael.

soontobe Mon 11-May-15 11:35:04

Fair enough.
But would you be terrified of Labour or Labour/SNP government?
