Agus that sounds absolutely awful. I can't imagine how stoical you are as losing the use of an arm must be more than frustrating. I do hope there is a successful treatment waiting for you very soon

soop how sweet you are to spend time with these poor ladies. It is very distressing to see people who are reduced to such circumstances. Having spent several hours at the hospital with DH, there were several elderly patients with varying degrees of dementia and I felt so bad for them.

I am just back from visiting DH. He is still in a lot of pain and was given pethidine last night which helped him to get some sleep. He did eat a little of his dinner with a bit of encouragement from his bossyconcerned wife
Doesn't look as though he will be home just yet but he's in the best place to take care of him.

Oh dear soop, how distressing for that poor lady. My cousin used to just sit with tears poring down her cheeks, holding hands with her visitor. She couldn't speak so we had no idea what was so upsetting for her.

I'm sorry to hear about the Calcific Tendonitis Agus. If there is treatment that may help to make movement less difficult and painful...go for it.

Oh, soop that is so sad. It's heartbreaking being with someone who is no longer in touch with reality but even more so when their reality is fearful. What a lovely lady you are to spend time with these ladies.

I'm having a bit of a miserable time at the moment with Calcific Tendonitis. I have now reached the stage of having an assessment as to whether the next step should be an Arthroscopy (keyhole surgery). At present I can no longer use my left arm which frustratingly means, no driving amongst other things.

You want to just scoop them up in your arms and take them home, but of course you can't.

Oh soop. My best friend visits her mother every day, because she is constantly imagining that sort of thing and the staff find it so hard. However, hard as she finds it, what she is finding very hard currently is the elderly lady whose husband died last weekend. She has the sort of dementia that is like groundhog's day. She wakes up, asks where he has got to, is told that he has died and grieves afresh every day. She said that she and the staff were sitting together trying to think of different places that they can tell her that her OH has gone to, to explain his absence away and that she will accept, as she is actually very lucid in between bouts of forgetfulness. So hard.

bella you are really going through it, aren't you.

Back outside I must go, I have to carry on painting the arbour seat which I think is only held together with paint, actually. If only they came with a life-long guarantee.

Home again from our morning in Campbeltown. It is a gorgeous day in bonnie Kintyre. Cloudless sky and mirror-like sea.

The visit to the care home was, as usual, a thought provoking event. I sat at a round table with four dear ladies who appeared to enjoy having company, 'though much of the conversation was incomprehensible. The newest resident was terribly distressed. She believes that she has committed a crime and that the police are parked outside in an unmarked car and are going to arrest her. She shed a few tears and asked me not to leave her.

A very quick pop into our kitchen before we leave for Campbeltown.

Bella I am so pleased for your darling wee granddaughter. Very sorry and sad to hear that your dear husband is in pain. I hope with all my heart that the medical team can help him and that he'll soon be back where he belongs, with you and those who love him. You will remain in my thoughts throughout the day.

pompa I'm happy that the medication port helped to deaden any discomfort overnight. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Tooth is settling down quite well. have not needed any painkillers (apart from a couple of glasses of port). It's a bit tender. but no more than that.
As this is the kitchen, anyone want to ask me over for lunch, Mrs. P is kicking me out as her friends are over for lunch.

pompa - good that you've had a satisfactory experience with the tooth or what's left of it. For a few years, it seemed that I had to have this procedure every time I was taking part in an election campaign! Luckily I have given up that hobby. My new dentist is doing a post grad qualification in root canals! I hope he doesn't discover another one to be dealt with in my choppers!

Anesthetic wearing off, some discomfort,but not so bad considering.

Pleased to hear your root canal treatment was pain free Pompa but I know what you mean about the injections.....eye watering torture! I do hope you have a pain free night.

Bella how lovely to hear about your GD happily bouncing out of school today and with the news she had made some friends. I do the school run for both GDs quite often and I love it even on the odd grumpy day when there is no sign of a bounce

My heart goes out to your poor DH. He has been so brave and strong and now is understandably just worn down with all that is going on. I wish him all the strength in the world to get through this next hurdle. Lots of strength and courage to get you through this too

Bellasnana, my dear, "Bon courage"! I hope he will find the single room more restful than a ward and that it will help him get over this latest setback. I am not surprised he is feeling down at present but this makes it hard for you to keep chipper. Good news about your little DGD though

Thank you all for your kind comments on DGD's first day at school. Today was day 2 and she bounced out saying she had made friends today, so her Mum and I are much happier. I think I will be doing the meeting from school as DD2 starts work next week, it will take me back a bit as my youngest is 24 this year

Not such good news on poor DH. The scan revealed he has a thrombosis in his lung - hence the dreadful pain. He has finally been allocated a single room, so I got him changed into clean pj's etc and tucked him up. He has been very weepy ( most out of character for him) and feels really down, bless him. Am not sure when he will be considered fit to come home, so it's back to hospital visits for the time being

Poor pompa, I would love to know why it's agony for some, and pain-free for others.

Soop! Your DS... I've sort of taught myself to think, no news is good news as far as my DCs are concerned. I know others might think the opposite, but I quite like wandering along in ignorant bliss. DD has quite a few health problems though, sadly. All since she had the GCs. It makes me wonder how she will be when she reaches my age, if she is getting so many ailments at her young age.

Soutra when I wanted to do what you wanted to do, as a stress reliever, and we were broke, I would go window shopping, and then go to Thornton's and have a huge drink of coffee or chocolate, which always came with a free chocolate. Then I would try to remember what it was that I seriously coveted and usually I had forgotten all of them. If one stuck in my mind, I would consider going back buying it. Usually just sitting in a lovely relaxing café, having spent the day in nice surroundings, was enough to calm me.

Glad it went OK, pompa. DD2, who never needed any dental treatment until she was in her late twenties, had to have root canal treatment recently. Her take on it was that she was glad to be alive in the twenty-first century with such good local anaesthetics!

Paracetamol washed down with brandy has been known to do the trick for me!

I'm delighted for you pompa and providing you've some painkillers, should you need them, the worst bit is behind you. You will look exceedingly handsome when your new crown is in situ.

I've to feed the cats. After which I may tackle the pile of ironing that has been languishing in the utility room since this time last week.

Tomorrow we visit our pal in the care home. I've a few magazines to leave with the ladies. When we return home, I shall pop into our kitchen and catch up with the latest news. In the meantime, I wish each and every one of you lot a peaceful, pleasant, and for pompa pain free evening.

I was pleasantly surprised ( I was quite worried), apart from the initial injections, I did not feel a thing, took him 45 min. However my mouth is only just starting to come round, so I might need painkillers before the evening is out. Still got to have the crown replaced in a couple of weeks.
