Maybe that's what happens in Russia! But my DiL was home and standing, sitting, walking the same day in both cases.

Then I wonder how all those Russian peasant women in the past managed to give birth and return at once to the fields?

rq - oh yes I remember the not sit down bit! When I had my first, I started to vomit copiously when I was 10 days overdue (possible food poisoning) and I was induced. Obs consultant was on leave and his locum was an Ozzie guy, who I think must have been used to delivering babies in the bush! He decided to use forceps and, to increase the traction, he braced his feet on the end of the bed!! The resulting episiotomy was huge and encompassed a large and painful pile in which he put a stitch. I thought that I would never ever sit down again, let alone live to conceive again!

Re * rosequartz's* post, I too could stand within a few hours of giving birth (sitting was another matter). However I did not think the baby looked like a new born!

My DD had her second child on the bathroom floor -delivered by her DH (a Dr but he had not delivered a baby since he was a student). She was up and about the same morning.

I was back home in 24 hours after having a quick birth with her and had a DS aged under 2, plus a rugby-injured DH to care for. We just got on with it. Don't forget there is a nannie for Prince George and a maternity nurse for baby Princess plus chefs, other staff and Granny Carole and Grandad Mike all to play their part. I reckon they will be fine.

My forecast for the name is Elizabeth Caroline Diana. We'll see quite soon I believe.

So every one included , Charlotte is the second name of Pippa, Elizabeth second name of Catherine and Carole, suppose Diana had to be added on, understandable it was chosen , just hope the press will not refer to this over and over and over , but they will.

I agree, merlot. I think it would have been a terrible idea to have Diana as a first name, and we've already got an Elizabeth. Charlotte is a lovely name (Georgie and Charlie! )

Charlotte is a lovely name and goes with George rather well. Yes, it has been very popular over the years, but I don't think it ever became too popular. I never really wearied of it as I have with some over-used names. 'Princess Charlotte' sounds very pretty!

Nice names (except Diana - I wasnt a fan) but of course she will be Princess Charlie.

I rather fancied Alice or, secondly, Alexandra for the first name, but I do like Charlotte and it seems very appropriate considering all the connections that Anniebach has pointed out.

This is obviously for Prince Charles. Not surprised - a really traditional name; they were never going to go trendy. But sounds very pretty as long as she is not called Char. Lottie is a nicer diminutive.

Petallus I thought baby did not look newborn either. Wonder what theories will be conjectured. Hanoverian name over Stuart name - an obvious choice if you are Saxe Coburg Hesse Gotland. No Game of Thrones names then. Sorry. Just being silly.
