Feminist lingerie [huh?]

Comfortable underwear can also look attractive. I like pretty underwear and I always have. My mother wore pretty lacy underwear until she died aged 85. I inherited several very pretty nightdresses she had bought but not yet worn.

I got properly fitted in John Lewis a few years ago and the assistant recommended it.
I don't like stretch fabric for knickers so wouldn't wear the things in the feminist advert.

I found Bravissimo a few months ago.
They measured me to a size totally different from what I've always worn and had considered a good fit.
I now realise what a properly fitted supportive bra feels like.
And I do wear a very large cup size.

I also agree that feminist doesn't necessarily mean only functional.
And I think that the 'grey brigade' are still happy to have pretty underwear, albeit with a little substance as necessary

After so many years of only being allowed purely functional underwear (ex husband/long story lol) I finally discovered lace sets in my fifties. Now I'm hooked on them. But I need granny saggy support too. As I hate wires it's a chore to find them. You could try JD Williams catalogues. They design clothes for a larger lady and so their bras tend to be a bit more supportive.

Ignore the so-called 'grey' market. Wear what you like. But as for bras...words fail me!

is anyone designing bras specifically for the saggy "grey" market? even the comfortable ones don't seem to have the proportions correct. I wear the pull-on ones but even they don't seem to fit right

could someone please please realise that lots of us aren't going to be offended at products aimed specifically at our saggy figures. I don't want to pretend that I'm still in my thirties I want to be so comfortable that I forget the underwear is there!!

the grey market seems to be dominated by velcro slippers, support hose and bunion products. Is anybody out there making clothes I can be at ease in?

I agree vampirequeen. People should wear whatever they want to wear.

I don't understand why it's assumed that feminists don't like lacy bits and bobs. Aren't feminists allowed to wear girly stuff?

It's so much easier to use the good English term 'underwear' unless you prefer the very coy designation I spotted in Macy's window in the US - 'intimate garments'.

I don't like the underwear, I don't like the colours and I don't see why it is supposed to be feminist.

Whilst what passes for my bosoms definitely do not sag or droop, the same cannot be said for my buttocks, which seem hell bent on introducing themselves to the backs of my knees.

Certainly can't tuck mine in my knickers - they are, as my OH says, "a neat handful"!

And now I'm humming "... can you tie them in a knot, can you tie them in a bow, can you throw them o'yer shoulder ..."

The garments remind me of those worn by strict religious sects like the Amish.

Why do they think that feminist underwear should be so unflattering? Surely you can be independent and intelligent without having to look like a sack of potatoes.

phoenix - however, consider yourself lucky that your boobs have not descended (ahem) into oversized pendulosity* with age. Say no more.

Speaking as a person with practically no bosoms a very small bust, unless I wear either gel bras or air bras I hardly make a break in the fabric of whatever top I'm wearing. Take the bra off, and the breasts go with it!

Still, I suppose what was never there can never droop.

Happy memories of when I had the DS's. Once the boob fairy had been (oh, I remember it so well! That turning over in bed and where ones arm would usually drop down onto the bed, it's fall was impeded by a newly arrived bosom!) I would spend longer in front of the mirror than was strictly necessary.

I would have loved to be able to keep them, but sadly they returned all to quickly to their pre-baby state
