There was also a radio progamme about how insurance companies influenced the actions to LAs who had reports of abuse in their establishments. It was chilling. LAs were fearful that any claims made against them might not be met by the insurance company, so used that as a reason to ignore them.

The press conference given today by Maggie Bailey, the Chair of Oxfordshire Safegaurding Board made me spit to be honest.

How can you say on one hand between 2005 - 2010 there were ' repeated missed opportunities' for action to be have been taken' but find there was ' no willful professional fault' ? It must be me!

She did report there had been significant changes for the good since 2010 and we can only hope that countrywide councils, police, social services, NHS and government have woken up to the fact there is no hiding place for this gross neglect and dereliction of duty. It's such a massive problem and there has to be a total shift in how such cases are handled, hopefully that has started.

Rotherham, Oxford, Rochdale , where next?

I guess now this thread has started there will be the usual point made about politicians , clergy , white, you name it peadophile groups and that is a perfectly relevant point to make but in this instance it has to be said this a report into the same cultural issues as Rotherham and Rochdale yet even now the media fight shy of making connections , quite ridiculous.

Indeed - it is the ignoring of what is going on that is so horrifying.

Sickening and unforgivable, words fail me and I'm so, so angry when authorities have ignored and dismissed those who reported serious concerns allowing abuse to proliferate.
