I just forked out £112 for an hour! Still in shock and having lie down.....

Brenda. Start a thread about your travels when you get back. Sounds an interesting trip!

gracesgran I like the butterfly analogy, but I'm equally as happy with the grasshopper one smile

teetime if only I could find a dental hygienist for £39 in London. Mine starts at £50.00...

loopylou Sat 28-Feb-15 09:51:28

Crikey Brendawymms, that's steep shock
You'll be glad to board ship - have a lovely cruise back to grey and damp GB x

Teetime Sat 28-Feb-15 09:50:41

Wow I hope you are having a good time there though Brenda. I'm still reeling from being charged £39 for 20 minutes with the dental hygienist this week.

If I can have a little scream on another subject. I had coffee this morning with DH in the hotel. Two coffees came to £16. Most dinner type meals start at a minimum of 10,000yen which is about £60 each. Glad we are leaving tomorrow. Even a glass of milk is about £4!

One of my dearest friends does this. And she has a habit of mentioning 'she' when it could be either of her daughters or any of her three granddaughters, or even her DiL. I have to guess from the context.

Gracesgran Sat 28-Feb-15 08:52:22

My family are kinder (I think) Grannyknot and say I have a butterfly brain. It rests on one subject for a short while an then flies on. I put it down to it being absolutely choc-a-bloc (a nautical term to do with pulleys and blocks which are so tight together they cannot move) of rubbish!

loopylou Sat 28-Feb-15 08:48:35

Oh joys Teetime, sounds just like DH wink, selective hearing strikes again!

Teetime Sat 28-Feb-15 08:42:11

DH does this all the time - starts a conversation mid stream and you're meant to catch up or says something entirely apropos and I'm meant to guess - apparently I'm not paying attention. Everything I say has to be said twice as he is not even on the planet.

Grannyknot Fri 27-Feb-15 23:06:53

My family call me "grasshopper brain". About the only one who can follow where I go next in my head, is my daughter.

Coolgran65 Fri 27-Feb-15 21:37:45

My friend and I do this but can follow each other perfectly. Our men...haven't a clue. Can't keep up.

ffinnochio Fri 27-Feb-15 21:22:40

We're both capable of displaying this behaviour at times. We call it 'going walkabout'.
Pointing out one or other of us has gone walkabout usually sorts things out, unless of course, we've both gone walkabout simultaneously. Then it gets messy!

loopylou Fri 27-Feb-15 20:46:20

Definitely not us, certainly a male species malfunction- I call it Grasshopper Syndrome.....

rosequartz Fri 27-Feb-15 20:32:58

It's them, it's not us
Happens all the time.

I am often telepathic - but not always.

absent Fri 27-Feb-15 20:19:02

Mr absent holds a conversation with me in his head – usually about some sort of maglet that he has fitted or wants to fit in the car – and doesn't speak out loud until he is about three-quarters of the way through. He looks amazed that I haven't a clue what he is talking about.

whenim64 Fri 27-Feb-15 11:45:52

I find myself talking at cross-purposes with my family all the time. Last week, I asked my son by text if he was watching a particular crime programme, and asked DiL if they would be home at 6 pm so I could call by to see them as I knew she was taking the children to their dancing class after schoool. He replied on her phone saying that they were recording it, so later I asked if I could see the video of the children dancing. They both gently implied that I was losing the plot as they were recording the programme not the children, until I unravelled what had been going on. Isn't it interesting that they think it's you that's getting mixed up?

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 27-Feb-15 11:10:52

grin I'd love to be a fly on the wall in your house Bags. grin

Gagagran Fri 27-Feb-15 11:04:28

All my sympathies are with you bags. I don't think men's brains (in general) operate like ours. As I often tell DH "You might say you listen but you don't hear what I am saying".

I don't mind meanderings kitty - I can usually follow the thread but I find DH can't and just ends up a bit puzzled - quite often!

Lona Fri 27-Feb-15 10:20:18

My friend does that to me all the time. She thinks I'm psychic. I'm NOT!!!

grin

kittylester Fri 27-Feb-15 10:14:02

In our house, that's me Bags. At least I usually know what I'm talking about! grin

I apologise on behalf of all meanderers everywhere. blush

thatbags Fri 27-Feb-15 10:06:36

So (as the young things always seem to say nowadays), MrBags (I typed Gabs first!), who is at home today, and I are talking about catching the train to Edinburgh tomorrow (we are going to watch DD2 diving), and he mentions we need to go a bit early in order to have time to pick up some car headlight bulbs. I mention that we'll already be setting off quite early in Saturday morning terms for him and Minibags and then he mentions picking Minibags up from school and I lose the plot.

Turns out he's continuing a conversation we had yesterday evening about him and M going to Homebase after school to get her a new bookcase. I was still on this morning's conversation and I'm not going with them to Homebase anyhoo. He gives no indication that he's down a time and subject jump.

He does this all the time. Drives me potty! Scream! Growl! Snarl!

Thanks for listening.
