My 8yr old DGS loves to sleep in our bed when he comes to stay. DH often removes himself to the spare room so he doesn't have to hang on to the edge of the mattress! My gs has done this since he was small and we have some of our best chats in the early morning. Nobody in the family - including his parents - has any issue with this as we believe he will gradually stop wanting to do it as he gets older. Currently he still has an assortment of soft toys in the bed as well so he's not as grown up as all that. I think it's lovely to have a sleeping child next to you, gives me a happy heart. My friend, however, is quite emphatic in saying that we shouldn't let him do this and shouid make him sleep in his own bed. My friend is a gay male and I'm not sure if this has any bearing on his position. Just wondered what other Gnetters thought??

When I have slept with youngest GD 3 she slept so close to me I couldn't sleep and she usually had her hand on my face. Now I put her in the queen size bed in my second bedroom with her brother (7) and she does the same to him, but he sleeps on. One night he was about to fall off the bed she had moved so close. I had to keep getting up to move them back. I eventually moved his pillow a bit lower so if she moved the side of his pillow was in her way.

Second GD has often slept in my bed but I tend to get her to sleep down the bottom on the other side if there are no other beds available. She sleeps all over the bed and ends up sleep across the bed. My GSs used to come in in the morning for a cuddle when they were small.

There is nothing as nice as a cuddle in the morning though. Second GD (7) is always up first at their house and if I am staying over she comes into my bed for a cuddle.

When DD2 was a teenager she used to sleep in my bed more often than her own. She said she would get scared in her bedroom.

would love to have a cuddle in my bed but Im not supposed to do it as dd issues strict instructions that dgd must sleep alone in her cot at my house in case she starts to want to sleep in her parents bed. maybe when she gets older and we can explain that she can jump in my bed in the morning for a few minutes.
