Mairi's (or occasionally Marie's) wedding. The mh sound is pronounced as a 'v' in the Gaelic so the name Mhairi ought to be pronounced as Vah-ri.

I only know because my paternal grandmother spoke Gaelic, which she called The Gah-lic.

Talking of music at a funeral. My late father wanted 'All Things Bright and Beautiful' we all sang with gusto.

The sun is shining on a frisky sea. The white-capped waves sparkle. Earlier, we had a right royal downpour. The wind is chilly...no walk today.

Today is one of our grandson's 16th birthday. The eldest grandchild is twenty-five and the youngest will soon be five. Goodness me, doesn't time whiz by at an alarming rate. I looked out the album containing the first photographs that we took of him. I'm thankful to be able to say that he is a credit to his parents. He has a loveable disposition He's kind and considerate. He works hard at school and is very active when it comes to sport. End of brag. Thank goodness that my Granspals know how special it feels to be able to share such special feelings.

Yes Soop I had a phone call from his 'mum' a couple of days after he got home. They live about 5 miles from us and Socks would have had to cross either a motorway or a busy duel carriageway to get to us. He went missing on New Year's Eve - apparently slipped out, even though they were trying to keep both cats inside due to the fireworks.

We think he might have taken off frightened by the bangs and not been able to find his way home. He has a brother cat (Boots] who has missed him terribly. She said it was pitiful to watch their reunion. All mutual nose rubbing and little squeaks.

She wanted to send me a reward but has promised to send a donation to my favourite charity instead as a compromise. She will phone again to let me know how he's getting on but it sounded as if he happy to be home and reunited with his family. He's certainly eating and sleeping well.

It is lovely to hear that Sox was a wanted and not an abandoned cat which did go through my mind when I firat heard that he was starving etc.

Lovely to hear that Boots has missed him lots and hopefully he will not do it again. Thank goodness he was microchipped or he would have found another loving home!

Anya Thank goodness that Socks found you. It's highly likely that his days were numbered. I cannot tell you how much I like the trouble that you put yourself to on his behalf. Such a lucky cat.

I'm so glad that Socks had a happy reunion with his owners. I have lost both a cat and a dog in the past, and you always wonder what happened.

jane If Rory went missing MacSporran would be distraught. He has become so attached to the cat that "cannot come in..." he rarely lets him out of his sight. MacS was repairing the shed roof the other day. I had strict instructions to keep him safely indoors. As MacS said..."you never know..." We're talking about a cat that lived in the wild for at least ten years. Sweet!

Do any of you lot feel lack-lustre today? I'm having great difficulty staying awake. And yet I sleep soundly every night. I may curl up in my tartan chair together with a tartan rug and have forty winks. G&T at six o'clock sharp. It is wild and windy outside. The hail was hammering on the window just a short time ago. Oh for the coming of spring.

I cannot see Tara wabdering too far from home. She was out for around 4 minutes tday, that activity exhausted her so she has retired to bed. She likes to know where I am and when she is awake, is very close to my side.

I tried to buck up the dozy feeling today by dragging encouraging DH out for a walk at Dyrham Park (NT) with the bribe promise of tea when we got there. It belted down with hail and rain so the walk was cancelled but we still enjoyed a lovely cream tea as a consolation

I'm cobwebby. I meant to do rather more in the garden than I managed. I think because we had a busy day yesterday.

We went into town yesterday, DBH needed his photo part of his driving licence renewed, what an amazing service now. You just walk into the PO with both your parts, they take a photo of you and get your best side , fill in the whole form for you, provide the necessary ID because you are in front of them, so no more chasing after teachers/doctors/whoever and having to pay them for the privilege, and it only takes less than 10 minutes. You pay £21 and that covers postage, envelope, photos, ID verification and them doing all the writing! So hassle-free!

It was more of a hassle trying to buy both day Nurse and Night Nurse at the Sainsbury's chemist. He wouldn't sell us both together. I explained that I needed both, three doses of one during the day, one of the other at night. Did I look stupid enough to overdose? He said I might try to commit suicide. I said, after much arguing, if I did, I would only take the Night nurse as it would send me to sleep. He looked at me and said, ok, I didn't look suicidal. DBH said no, that would be him. As I walked off eventually, having won the argument (is that a first against dictatorial chemists?) I said over my shoulder that we were now on our way to buy more at Tesco, because I couldn't believe that one bottle each would do the job properly. And we had a pact. I thought for one moment he was going to run after us and grab the bottles back.

Just a thought because I know how many cat lovers are on this thread, does anyone have any tips for introducing two cats into a house where there is already an adult cat? All are female. DD is moving back home this month with DGS (long and sad story). Her two cats are sisters, ours is an Arabian Mau who was a Dubai street cat and is very attached to DH, follows him around like a dog. I can foresee lots of spitting and hissing ( and that is just DH and DD ) Does a Felliway infuser help? Not looking forward to this at all.

Janer, my father went to the chemist to buy some meths (can't remember why) and when the pharmacist asked what he wanted it for, Dad told him that we were having a party! The pharmacist refused to sell it to him!

I couldn't sleep last night! ( family problems) si missed archery yet again! I'm only leaving the house when I have a tribunal to sit on, which is only about 2x a month at present!
