What clothes do you, or did you hate wearing, I can't stand wearing overcoats or macs, give me sun & tee shirts every time smile

Polo necks, wool next to my skin, anything in paisley pattern, only wear tights when I have to dress up otherwise wear ankle highs with trousers and knee highs with skirts ( all my winter skirts are three quarter or ankle length ) any kind of hat absolutely hate them , blouses.

All those people who want us to tell them about special shops of 'older' people should read this thread rather than bothering us!! grin

GillT57 Tue 10-Feb-15 15:27:50

Cant bear:

polyester or any man made fibre
polo necks
beige
brass style buttons
polyester trousers, especially when worn too short
socks different colour from shoes ( I dont, but some do and it looks awful)
tights
nighties
wool next to my skin
fleeces unless worn for intended purpose
trainers ( ditto)
pop sox

rosequartz Tue 10-Feb-15 15:32:32

I quite like a warm beige with black (am I an old granny?) blush I thought it was smart, especially with a bit of gold bling.
Please tell me if it looks frumpy!
Especially as I can't stand high heels.
But not a whole garment made in beige

GillT57 Tue 10-Feb-15 15:36:56

Rose I wear taupe or camel coloured tops with black trousers as I am sure you do, it is just the word beige that makes me cringe, and I am sure you look very chic, the same as I do! blush

rosequartz Tue 10-Feb-15 15:41:29

That's it GillT57 - taupe or camel!! Not beige!

Not sure about me looking chic though hmm

Ana Tue 10-Feb-15 15:41:46

I like pop sox! Ordinary socks make my feet too hot, especially in boots.

DD is ashamed of me...grin

rosequartz Tue 10-Feb-15 16:00:55

I love my socks in the winter

Sandals in the summer

GillT57 Tue 10-Feb-15 16:25:51

rose surely someone as chic as you doesnt wear socks with sandals? grin
or are you like me, ankle boots with socks until the weather turns warmer then bare feet in sandals........only have one pair of high black (uncomfortable) shoes to wear with tights when absolutely necessary

Lapwing Tue 10-Feb-15 16:45:39

Polo necks, high heels, bras (since I retired from work I only wear one if going out somewhere special), nighties, dull and boring clothes.

I've taken to ordering bras from Figleaves. You can send them back if they don't fit. My problem is that I seem to have slippery shoulders. It's hard to find a bra with straps that don't slide down and if I tighten them too much, the cups ride up!

THIS!!!!!!

rosequartz Tue 10-Feb-15 19:37:51

GillT57 Snap! Although I do have some clunky flat shoes as an alternative to boots.

My old boss used to wear socks with sandals. grin

Perhaps you need a smaller 'around' size but a larger cup size (as advised by a bra fitter who told me she thought the majority of women wore the wrong size bra)
Can you go somewhere for a fitting?

hildajenniJ Tue 10-Feb-15 20:01:53

I bought pull on bras, and even they have straps that fall down. I hate bras, and tend to go without these days. There are occasions when I have to wear one but I'm always glad to take it off.

loopylou Tue 10-Feb-15 22:01:55

I'm worried that if I didn't wear a bra I'd end up being able tuck my boobs in my knickers grin!

annodomini Tue 10-Feb-15 22:12:38

rosequartz, I keep meaning to get a fitting, but am just too lazy!

percival Sat 14-Feb-15 08:38:21

Let's hope no one buys any sexy lingerie for you ladies today!!!....grin

Soutra Sat 14-Feb-15 08:41:14

That's a bit patronising Percival hmm !

percival Sat 14-Feb-15 08:44:10

Calm down Soutra, just a joke!!....grin

petallus Sat 14-Feb-15 08:52:18

Can't stand tights or hold-ups which means I hardly ever wear skirts.

Soutra Sat 14-Feb-15 08:54:25

In poor taste Percival

Oldgreymare Sat 14-Feb-15 09:14:37

Yellow card, Percival

percival Sat 14-Feb-15 09:18:28

I hang my head in shame.....grin

I eventually got the courage together and went to a 'bra' shop to be fitted. Even there the same size bra in different makes fitted differently. The one I ended up with cost £75 but the lady did say that the M&S one I was wearing when I went fitted well.
I now know that I need bras that do not have straps attached to the cup but are on the band that goes around underneath so worth the visit.

janerowena Sat 14-Feb-15 11:57:01

Percival grin

I think nowadays if DBH tried to buy me sexy underwear he would find all the cheeks of his boxers cut out.

Brenda do you mean they go to the side of the cup, sort of at the back? I obviously haven't investigated bras enough lately, I wear t-shirt bras. They are fine when new, but I have to be really careful not to stick them in the tumble-dryer by mistake or the next time I wear them, my cup runneth over with a vengeance.

Also I have to make sure that the central bit between the two cups is reasonably substantial, I have known it to come apart on more than one occasion. Really embarrassing if you are out for the day.
