Forgot to say that, until about 10 years ago, I hated jackets and coats etc but now I've got a bit of a fetish about them, so long as they are easy to wear.

Tights, high-heeled shoes, skirts, itchy jumpers, fussy frills, close-fitting clothes or anything that is tight round the waist.

I like comfort!

Must have a V neck or scooped neck I can't abide polo necks I feel as though I am being chocked slowly to death.
I can't wear polyester stuff next to my skin it must always be cotton or natural fibre.
Prefer to wear sandals except in winter when boots are necessary and never wear tights only hold-ups or pop socks.

Polo necks and itchy woollen jumpers are the worst. Reassuring and confirming to find out so many others dislike them too. Going back even further to school days, having to wear a school blouse with a tie. Same choking/chafing effect as a polo neck.

I don't like dressing up like a dog's dinner for occasions such as dinner dances and weddings that sort of thing, I resent wasting money on clothes I don't like or want and subsequently get shoved in the wardrobe and forgotten about. Unlike day wear they don't give much in the way of mileage.

On a more general level I avoid, polo necks and jumpers generally, I find wool uncomfortable, I prefer to layer with soft cotton. I don't wear the sort of sandals that have the bit that goes between big toe and next toe down, not because I don't like them, I do, but I find them hard to wear.

Anything tight anywhere
Any clothing made of wool (makes me itch to think about it)
M&S bras (have they changed the sizing? They are too tight, and that's after I lost weight!)
Dressing up in formal clothes, high heels (I walk like Dick Emery in drag )
Sandals with toe thongs (have scar from blisters)
Polo necks (tried again recently and they're heading for the charity shop)

So happy to hear its not just me that's found M&S bra sizes seem to have changed. Can't stand tight clothes (which is a shame as mine all seem to have tightened up!!

Tee shirts, shorts, flip flops? It's February here!
I like polo necks as my own is best hidden. I hate bras, I've never had a comfortable one.

I still love dressing up from time to time, if only for the sheer relief of taking it all off! But mostly, I agree with the rest of you, especially; polo necks or crew necks, which provide a sort of shelf effect. And I HATE:

Polyester in any form
Anything beige
Embroidered t shirts in said polyester
Elasticated waist trousers ditto
Waterfall cardigans
Knee highs (shudder)
Long sleeves (and they are ALL too long)
Nighties

Better stop now.....oh, but also - fleece jackets, unless they are hip length.

(Also hate old guys getting it off on any mention of stockings and suspenders.)

Hate anything with long sleeves - don't like having my wrists trussed up... so I wear either sleeveless knitted tunics (got umpteen of 'em, despite my bingo wings), or tunic tops with short or three-quarter length sleeves and leggings - this is what I seem to live in nowadays.

To everyone who finds tights uncomfortable - years ago someone recommended Wolford tights to me.
They're expensive but worth every penny. They don't ride up over my waist and they don't wrinkle round my ankles or sag at the crotch.
I put them in the washing machine on a delicate cycle in a laundry bag and they're fine. They last years without laddering.

Anything containing itchy wool, tight sleeves, 'crimplene', 3/4 sleeves, high heels, leggings, skimpy knickers/thongs -I like them to stay round my waist and encompass my derrière

I detest those 7/8 trousers that show the ankles. Properly cropped trousers in summer are fine by me, but I want full length ones in winter.

which ones are your usual jane?

Jumpers with silly length sleeves - why one earth would I want one with sleeves that end inches above my wrist in winter? Let alone a winter coat with them !
Neon coloured clothes as in M&S currently....

I agree about the sleeves, loopylou. I have quite long arms, and three-quarter-length sleeves just leave too many inches of exposed skin!

I don't wear skirts and dresses that often now so I buy 2 or 3 pairs a year to replenish my stock.

I can recommend a visit to one of the "posh", specialist bra fitters for anyone who has bra trouble. They may seem to be expensive at first but they last well. The fitters (I've used Rigby & Peller) are extremely helpful, know exactly what size fits best and it saves all that faffing around with hundreds of sizes at M&S

What to do about sleeve lengths? It's obvious that some of you have entirely the opposite problem to me. I have some lovely cardigans and jumpers and the sleeves descend beyond my wrists - I have tried taking them up and it just looks awful, using sort of garters and they descend slowly. I have just about given up in favour of waistcoats and gilet type things.

I've taken to ordering bras from Figleaves. You can send them back if they don't fit. My problem is that I seem to have slippery shoulders. It's hard to find a bra with straps that don't slide down and if I tighten them too much, the cups ride up!

I like the velvet tights too. They are pretty much the only ones I buy from them now. They do last for ages, so I haven't had to buy flesh-coloured ones for years as I bought quite a few pairs back when they were £17.

I hate polo necks too. I do have a couple that are really old and in useful colours, I end up rolling the neck over twice, or folding it into thirds. It has to be bitterly cold before I will put one on.

Those harem pants that are big and baggy at the top and tight around the ankles. MiL bought some in bright tribal prints - and then bought me some. They are so unflattering, but every summer I feel I have to air them if she is about. They make women look as if they are wearing a large towelling nappy underneath their trousers, unless they are 6' tall and slim.
