Started off with gales at about 7 ,plenty of rain then snow now windy but the sun is shining and a lovely blue sky. The only thing we haven't had in the last five hours is hail. Had the gutters cleaned out yesterday in anticipation of the snow to come. I'm glad the man wasn't up a ladder cleaning them out today.

Kiora be philosophical about your training day - you can imagine those higher managers trying to out b**sh*t each other and being paranoid about protecting their perilous jobs. The last course I attended begore retiring was delivered by the SUMO Man (honestly grin ). His strapline - Shut Up, Move On - geddit? This motivational day was a last ditch attempt to save management jobs and failed miserably, to the benefit of a few of us who got an unexpected redundancy package months before we were retiring anyway. Keep your fingers crossed!

It was beautiful here in central East Angular, a balmy 12C, until half an hour ago when a large brown cloud arrived and proceeded to dump a load of large hail on us, swiftly followed by strong winds, thunder and lightning and heavy rain. Not at all pleasant but still preferable to snow in my opinion.

Good wishes to everyone.
Yes it poured this morning............... but I already had to put my gardener/handyman off because I'm not really well enough to be outside - flareup of colitis and shivery, temperature I think. Stayed in bed this morning! I feel better in the warm.
I'm sad because I will not be going to singing group this afternoon. Must let them know.

Hi Retiredguy, it's always the way isn't it.... You buy your dream home and then find you have to spend a fortune gettin it right!

It was quite nice here first thing, just a bit of a breeze - but now we're being lashed with squalls too. Ho hum, soon be spring!

Retiredguy Wed 28-Jan-15 11:14:18

Whilst I was listening, heart in mouth; to the conservatory roof flexing and bending.
Hopefully not prior to flying away a super-Nasty gust of wind blew our big gates open so out in the hail and wind to secure those before they banged off their hinges.
Soon as I got back indoors to drip it cleared up.
Hey ho.
We've not long moved in to this retirement cottage by the sea.
What a crock it is, every day a new job or worry.

Good morning, wild and windy night and we have snow forecast for tonight.
DH went to our other home on Monday night and found the boiler had died so had to return yesterday for engineer. Surprise, surprise engineer says you can't get spare parts will have to be replaced. Boiler is in a cupboard, built to house it, and they are going to have to pull the kitchen apart. We have it almost ready for sale and didn't need this extra expense and upset.
DH has a third trip to Cumbria on Friday for the boiler people.
My computer is playing silly b*****s and crashed yesterday so I have a fancy it is on it's last legs too.

Howling a gale here, not raining, yet!
Done shopping and now trying to buck up my enthusiasm for studying and it's not working!

Ariadne Wed 28-Jan-15 10:37:35

Wind whipping in from the sea; sleet and rain and greyness. A day to hibernate, methinks, except I have to go to have the clips from the last operation removed. Still, DH will set me down at the door. sunshine

Rain and wind here in North Devon.

Kiora you could play b*lls@h#t bingo!

KatyK Wed 28-Jan-15 10:33:58

Calming down a bit here after a wet and blustery night. Kiora my sympathies. Before I retired we had SO many of those days - pointless training courses and meetings, puffed up managers talking down to us. Like you say a waste of taxpayer's money. I hope it's not too bad.

Greyduster Wed 28-Jan-15 10:18:04

Very wet and windy here in S. Yorks at the moment. Won't be doing much today except domestics and bottling some home made wine (damson). Expecting snow this evening and tommorrow.

petallus Wed 28-Jan-15 10:11:22

It was mild here until just now. It has suddenly started to rain hard and a strong wind has sprung up.

I've got to go out later to see a physio. After that I'm staying in.

whenim64 Wed 28-Jan-15 10:03:43

It's getting wild here in south Manchester. I've already been out to tie my back gate to the post as it's ripped the bolt off. Whipping up quite a storm.

Mishap Wed 28-Jan-15 09:59:20

Oh Kiora - that brings back memories! How many times have I sat through a day of bulls**t and thought what a waste of public money it was! I am glad to be out of it now! Grit your teeth, keep your peace and dream of putting your feet up when you get home.

Brendawymms Wed 28-Jan-15 09:50:37

I'm getting over the nasty cold bug which floored me at weekend, but I'm going to exercise class for a gentle stretch!
Coffee with the "girls" will cheer me along later.

hildajenniJ Wed 28-Jan-15 08:20:56

Good morning everyone.
It is wet, windy and miserable in Northumberland this morning. The temperature was 7.5°c when I left for home, when I got here it had dropped to 4.5°c. I hope it has stopped raining in 30 minutes time as I am heading out to the hairdresser.
Have a good day everyone, you included Kiora.

annsixty Wed 28-Jan-15 08:13:07

Good Morning all. It is lashing down with rain and blowing a gale here in Stockport,a day in I think (no change there then).
