We southern softies often get away with just occasional snowfalls, whilst you northerners have your snow ploughs out.

How are things with you now ?

Hope I haven't jinxed us all in the south I may have to get my shoe grippers out. smile

Had snow yesterday in SW Scotland, it's gone today as the sun(!) has been out! Although the there is a lot of ground water after the gales. x

A light dusting overnight here in Cornwall, but very cold out despite the sunshine.

durhamjen Sun 18-Jan-15 12:26:37

Had snow on Friday night and yesterday. This morning it had nearly all gone, but it is now snowing again. Nearly horizontal, so obviously windy as well.

Supposed to be going to Sunderland this afternoon.

We had snow this morning, but it is all disappearing now. Just as well really, as I am shortly making the 22 mile journey to see my Dad for the first time since taking him to the Care Home.

Even here in SW France snow is forecast for this week - bitterly cold wind today.

Lona Sun 18-Jan-15 14:21:50

We had snow here (Cheshire) during the night, then it melted slightly and now it's been snowing for about an hour and a half shock
Supposed to be a freezing night too!

Now I am going to be adventurous, and fail probably, and try and upload a photo of our garden and 'our' Church in the snow.

granjura Sun 18-Jan-15 14:56:36

Tell me, did I actually succeed?

Our little Church is cute, no?

rosequartz Sun 18-Jan-15 16:49:59

Not a lot of snow here, but there were still pockets of it in areas which had no sun today.

Some (not a lot) of snow on the distant mountains which looked very picturesque

Ana Sun 18-Jan-15 16:53:44

granjura, you can only upload photos onto a 'Pictures' thread. There'll be one on the Nature/wildlife forum somewhere smile

(as you have no visible profile we wouldn't be able to see it on there, either!)

Ana Sun 18-Jan-15 16:56:11

Oh, just looked and Pictures is in the Forum index.

granjura Sun 18-Jan-15 19:49:42

Can you see them now? they are uploaded it seems.

Ana Sun 18-Jan-15 19:51:06

But where? confused

granjura Sun 18-Jan-15 19:55:37

OK opened a profile now and made public- will that work? Try again.

Ana Sun 18-Jan-15 19:57:23

Yes! Lovely - just like a Christmas card smile

annsixty Sun 18-Jan-15 19:58:57

Perfect granjura and lovely pics.

granjura Sun 18-Jan-15 20:01:22

wooo hooo- done it. If your turn left from the ski slope, you get to another one and in 3 mins, you are in France;)

alisonobrien Sun 18-Jan-15 20:23:11

We had a few inches in the Peak District. All the children were out sledging.

GreatauntieLinda Sun 18-Jan-15 22:31:48

Up here in Co. Durham we have had a thin covering. Nothing to worry about. Freezing cold now though. Dont think I shall venture out tomorrow. Plenty in the fridge and freezer. Snuggle down time me thinks.

gillybob Sun 18-Jan-15 22:35:35

Nothing at all here on the North East coast. A bit rain this afternoon but no snow thank goodness. I think it must be the sea air.

hildajenniJ Sun 18-Jan-15 22:38:49

It's all gone! sad

durhamjen Sun 18-Jan-15 23:36:58

That's strange, gillybob, as I was in Sunderland between 2.30 and 6.00 p.m. and it was snowing there! Lots of snow on the way back on the A690.
How weird.

durhamjen Sun 18-Jan-15 23:55:57

Just been to lock the door, and checked my outdoor thermometer. It's -2, all the snow has gone, and the stars are shining very brightly, with no clouds, so it's probably going to get colder.
By the way, has anyone seen Lovejoy, the comet?

harrigran Mon 19-Jan-15 00:37:24

We have snow which has been lying all day in Sunderland, I live beside the A690 and A19. DS has photographed the comet and it is on his flickr page. I haven't been well enough to go and stand outside with the binoculars, already had one pneumonia scare smile

granjura Mon 19-Jan-15 10:04:47

Slowly and softly snowing again. Got about 2 ft out there.
