More storms

I'm in north Wiltshire too. We rarely get extremes of weather but tonight is scary. I fear for my roof.
My cat is asleep. His brother was killed 10 days ago and he's grieving, searching and miaowing all day. I hope he's dreaming he's curled up with his darling brother. Sad sniff.

I was in the conservatory this afternoon, sewing, and it sounded very scary out there with terrific gusts of wind (South Wales).

Where are all the birds? I hope they have found nice big fir trees to shelter in.

Awful when you lose a pet, and how sad for his brother, the poor thing must be so baffled, and nothing you can do in that situation to help.
Houses across road have lost aerials and tiles, daren't go and see if greenhouse surviving, could hear trees coming down in the woods behind us too.......

I am in Cheshire and its not as bad here yet as you guys seem to be getting.

Same here, just a bit further north, Nellie. I've just been outside to get something from the car and it's relatively calm and at present isn't raining.

apricot Im not sure but I have read that if a cat is distressed that those...ohh I cant think of the name...its a thing that you plug in and it is supposed to de stress them...fellway or something like that..

Pheromones I think? Meant to calm them.

Its very windy here in Northumberland, rattley doors and windows. I expect I will have to share my bed with 2 scaredy cats again tonight.
At least they will keep me warm.

I'm sitting here shaking. The wind is so strong it's hard to believe the windows won't blow in. The whole place is creaking and groaning. I had to get up because the poor cat was so upset. There's nothing I can do about it but hope it just stops soon. DH has had to drive to a course today. Just hope the roads are ok. Sorry. Just had to tell someone!

l am sat here thinking of you, I also have my neighbours cat here I can't believe she braved the wind , she is usually terrified to come here when its windy she has had some breakfast and is now snoring at my feet ,been here since 10 to six, we are in Shropshire very windy but cannot hear it as lounge is facing north and it is all going on in the front of our house. Its nice to think we are all here for each other.

When the hurricane hit here in 1987 the whole house was shaking and I was terrified. Since then I dislike strong wind. So everyone be kind to yourselves and keep safe.

It's nice to feel I'm not really on my own. Poor Baz the cat is still upset but luckily is very cuddly so is good company right now!

Still seems to be getting worse here (N Wiltshire) too Jane. Cannot believe how strong the winds are out there- swinging chair blown length of the garden, next door's glass topped garden table has gone over their 5 foot fence in to the woods. The noise of the wind in the trees is dreadful, never heard or seen anything like this in the 18 years we've lived here.

East Herefordshire here - v windy (and on cue - very squally shower just arrived - fortunately 'lurch' and I had had our morning 'blow the cobwebs away' walk) and I live on a hill facing south/south west but I feel as the house has stood here (half timbered) for over 300 years it should stand up to 40/50 mph gusts.
I do feel for those in the far north but hope their houses are built to withstand what the westertly winds will throw at them

Thinking of you all. We have so far escaped with nothing more than a few strong gusts over the last few days here in N Kent. Nothing like the forecast said. At the moment I would say it's no more than breezy and our house is on the coast road too.

It may be wishful thinking but it just might have calmed down a bit. Just heard that we have snow on the way. The sky is black with clouds. Might have to break into my emergency sausage roll supply!

Jane you've passed it over wind is increasing here now.
Still not as bad as the North though but enough to make my patio doors 'sing' which they do when wind is in the right wrong direction.

Last year our greenhouse blew down in a storm and was scrapped. We invested in a sturdier one. Last night we chased most of the new one around the garden. Sigh!

Jane10 !! We're not all that far from you (just across the Forth) and it's been snowing here. The oak tree at the bottom of the garden is waving about something awful!! Cat is sitting, huffily, under DH's legs at present...not a happy cat either. She's opened the cat-flap then backed in again!

jane10 . Still very strong winds here, dark sky and now it is snowing. Cat hasn't gone out at all this morning she is sitting looking out the window and thankfully doesn't seem upset.

Winds have eased and sunny bits at last! Had job keeping car on the road driving to town, better coming back.
Now to get on with cleaning oven, wash filthy car, get housework done [without any degree of enthusiasm].......

I dislike strong wind too Brenda.

And I dont know the point of windy weather.

Also, on a personal level, it always gives me headaches.
