Last day of the year. What are you going to do with it?

I am not a fan of New year celebrations. I think its down to my glass half empty attitude. There is nothing different about New Year. I never really celebrate.
Like Ninathenanny I will probably be finishing off my second jigsaw puzzle of the season.

Bideford, believe it or not, is a hot spot for New Year's Eve celebrations - even mentioned in Wikipedia! The Quay, bridge, and roads are closed, people dress up and there is music and dancing and fireworks. DGD and all her friends love it, and we can hear the music and see the fireworks from here, which is enough for me.
Theseus, however, is a Scot, so HAS to stay up until midnight, and likes to potter down into town to see what's going on. But, as DD is on taxi duty for the kids, she incorporates him into her rota.
I shall wait up to take a dram with him. Probably.

Hogmanay of course

I am on week 3 of the non hair washing experiment but I did cheat last week and used a dry shampoo as it was looking very lank.

I always remember my old medical tutor telling us that soap and shampoo we unnecessary luxuries whose only benefits were to perfume the body and hair and plain water cleansed just as efficiently.

After all that though, I too am washing my hair today.

Next, our boiler was on the blink for a few days so now that we have hot water again, I will make a start on doing some washing.

We no longer do anything socially at Hogmany but we do stay up for the Bells and after a toast to the new year, go to bed.

I have always hated New Year celebrations – Mozart was dead, Alexander the Great was dead, etc. long before me and achieved so much and I had achieved so little. Even when I tried to stay up to midnight and be jolly, I would finish up sitting at the bottom of the stairs sobbing into my lovely dog's curly coat. Bless his little heart, he was ill all over Christmas some years ago but hung on until January 1 to see me through. I am in the first world time zone – it's a little after 10 pm now – and I am shortly off to bed. I do wish all of you a happily, joyful and, yes, prosperous New Year.

My OH is working in the Co-op until ten o'clock tonight so we won't be seeing the New Year in. We will probably go to bed at our usual time.
We can have a lie in tomorrow as Waitrose is closed for the day, so no early morning job to go to.
DS is coming for lunch today, we are having cold meats and salad etc. so it will be nice and easy.

I will tonight nina as I only had three hours sleep last night!

Also, we are on tenterhooks regarding Mum so I doubt we will have the Bellinis that I didn't get on Christmas Day!

DH and I prefer to be on our own or with close family so I always do a nice meal - this year duck.

The idiot is having the children so we should get a lie in tomorrow

DGD2 is coming to stay overnight and we're having a new telly delivered. Typically once we'd bought it, I looked up on t'internet what exactly it does(so as not to appear too stupid when the blokes come to fit it) I found it advertised in the Hughes sale - considerably reduced!

Always in bed well before midnight. It has been some time since I got excited about what a New Year may bring.However Health and Happiness to all.

Yes don't stay up as in the middle of nowhere and except for the odd firework hear nothing. As a child living near Tilbury docks it was totally different lots of noise, ships hooters, bells, general noise and flares being let off. It was worth watching.

We never stay up as I dislike New Year "celebrations". I actually find it quite a pensive time thinking of what has gone on in the year just closing and what may lie ahead for us. I do, however, wish everyone a peaceful, happy and healthy 2015.

Sister and BiL arriving today and we'll go to friends for the evening. I will be the very sober driver.

I will start the new jigsaw that Santa brought.
We always watch Jools Holland to see in the New Year but don't stay up much passed midnight.

I keep trying that one also thatbags but like you never manage it. At two weeks my hair looks dreadful, long, lank and ratty. I am washing mine also today having given up at just over a week.

I need some carrots so while you are out remember me.
