Hilda you must live in a remote hilly area in Northumberland if it is dry where you live.
It is never dry near the coast, even if its not raining the paths usually stay DAMP. My house is damp, garden damp my clothes stay damp etc etc. for at least 7 months of the year. If its not damp underfoot then we have a sea fret which brings more damp air. lol.
Im not complaining I wouldn't live anywhere else, I hope for a dry new year maybe.

Good morning to you all, Northumberland is doing what it does best-damp.
Theres been no frost but the garden is so wet with just a hint of sun in the distance.

Hope you all enjoy your celebrations tonight, I will be in bed by 10ish, I never celebrate new year but I don't begrudge others who do, so have a good time.

Good morning all.a lovely sunny day here and at the moment NO WIND. Which means it feels much warmer than the 8C degrees it is. It went down to 2. 7C last night so if it carries on like this I might be reporting a frost one day soon.shock
I've been coughing and wheezing all night as I've caught DH's cold so we won't be going out tonight. Had planned to go outside the front door at midnight to watch the fireworks on the coast but I think I'll be in bed long before then.
Bom Ano Novo to you all.tchsmile

Good morning all. I have just been sorting out a costume for DH to go to the pub tonight. The theme is 'What did you want to be when you grew up'. He is going as a burglar! (We have a lot of police and ex police in the village so that might amuse them.) I don't like being slobbered over by all and sundry who barely speak to me the rest of the year NYE so will be happily in on my own, diet suspended, with the last of the nuts, chocs and a glass of something. Jools is very good company.
I enjoy NYD though and tomorrow I'll cook a nice meal and DS2 &GF (and dog) will join us.
Happy 2015 to all, hope it brings health, peace and friendship.

Frost still on the Welsh hills, but overcast, dry and mild. Planning a quiet day (as usual!) and will be in bed before midnight.

Hoping my new quilt panel will arrive so I can start on very easy cot quilt for baby boy expected in April.

Happy New Year to all.

Back in Tiptree now. No Snow smile cold and bright (sunny) this morning.

Juliette Wed 31-Dec-14 10:00:17

Good morning, cold and frosty here again. No plans for today. We are going to DS this evening to see in the New Year along with DD and DGS. Should be fun.

Good morning Hogmanay as we say in this part of the world.

It's raining at the moment and slightly windy but at least feels a good bit milder.

No exciting plans for tonight. Wait up for the bells, have a toast then off to bed.

All the best to everyone for a happy, peaceful, healthy new year. Slàinte Mhath wine

Good Morning- a bit brighter here in Leicestershire but we still have a good covering of snow (especially the golf course sadly we were planning a nice round to finish up the year). Shan't be staying up but undoubtedly be woken up by the fireworks- the nicest thing here is the church bells which are gorgeous at any time. Happy New Year wine

Cold, frosty but very bright here in Essex. I'm not particulary bothered about seeing in the New Year but as I sleep for only about 5-6 hours a night I make a point of not turning the light out until midnight so will watch the fireworks from the comfort of my bed.
Happy and healthy 2015 to one and all wine

Good morning everyone. Brightish skies here in Manchester. Going to spend tonight with a friend who lost her husband recently, and who sadly has no other family to speak of. Her two rescue dogs are apparently both on heat and trying to mount each other !!! Think I'll be needing a stiff drink or two tonight.

Morning all.

A Happy Healthy New Year to members and GNHQ

Another bright frosty morning here. I've not a lot planned. I would happily go to bed before midnight but DH's tradition is to watch Jools, would it be too rude to go and leave him to it ?? smile

Good morning everyone. It is mild and dry in Northumberland this morning. I hope you all have a good new years eve. We don't go First Footing here anymore. We like our bed too much.

Brendawymms Wed 31-Dec-14 08:38:06

Good morning all.
The warmer weather has not reached East Sussex yet so frosty and bright.

A very Happy and more importantly Healthy New Year to all, especially absent and all those on their own or feeling down.
I don't stay up to see the year in but others fireworks usually wake me!

kittylester Wed 31-Dec-14 08:17:45

Good morning all!

Very cold in North Leicestershire but set to warm up, I believe!

I only slept really badly so I feel like a piece of chewed string. I think I was expecting a phone call about mum but none came. I doubt I will still be awake at midnight!

Enjoy your days everyone and very best wishes for 2015! wine

annodomini Wed 31-Dec-14 08:12:57

Morning all. There's no ice on the car today so it must be warmer - or less cold. Have a good evening, everyone and see in the New Year in style. Auld Lang Syne correct lyrics.

Morning Michael and all, looks bright and frosty here in Kent. Stepping over young sleepers here as I go to work and leave daughter and her family in bed. She's not the tidiest of people so I'm wincing at the thought of what awaits me on my return from work. Oh well it's lovely to see them. There's s price to pay for everything.

Good morning all, I am having real trouble getting out of bed these mornings. It is still quite dark here, but I do not think we have any frost, which is good, because we are planning to go out. If we can get the car out of the garage without hitting the hand rail. Not a lot organised for seeing in the new year, probably just go to bed, and let it get on with it. Enjoy your days.

absent Wed 31-Dec-14 07:45:31

Not morning here in the first time zone in the world. Just a little bit more from 3 hours off New Year here. I hate the New Year ethos and always go to bed early. I used to cuddle my beloved dog and sob into his lovely curly coat while he pawed my arms and licked my face. But in spite of being a complete asshole, I wish everyone a joyous, satisfying and prosperous new year – just don't speak to me for a couple of days.

appygran Wed 31-Dec-14 07:29:21

Good morning Michael and all. Still dark here is Chester and looks like a heavy frost outside. An early start for me today, just having my first cup of coffee while thinking about de-icing the car before collecting gd for the day. Have a good New Year everyone.

annsixty Wed 31-Dec-14 07:05:52

Good morning. Michael and all. Very dark here in Stockport and a light covering of snow covers the garden and pavements. For all of you going out tonight ,have a lovely time and do be careful if you are travelling.

Good Morning Everyone,
Its still dark here in Brackley but looks less cold,
