I'm really worried about my friend. I've looked up a dissecting aorta and it seems that she should still be in hospital. I've sent her the website, durhamjen.

I've warned her not to do anything and she's going to see the GP on Monday or will go back to a and e if she begins to feel worse. She's still in a lot of pain and is exhausted. She's taking tramodol for the pain but it's not really touching it.

The hospital said the dissecting aorta had been caused by a peptic ulcer. She told them she didn't have a peptic ulcer but they insisted she did even they they'd not done any scans of her stomach and it didn't hurt when they pushed on it. She hasn't passed or vomited any blood or coffee grinds. They've given her an anti acid to take every morning.

My gp called me a ticking timebomb when he saw me after I came out of hospital. Have sent you a pm, vampire.

I don't think anyone told her about not being alone. We let her go home earlier because she said she just wanted to go to bed. In fact she slept most of the time she was here.

I'll also tell her about not lifting anything.

They've told her that if she's still in pain in two weeks then she has to go to her gp.

If it is a dissecting aorta, I had one last year. Yes, it is painful, and is not always diagnosed accurately.
When she comes out, she'll have to have someone with her, and make sure she doesn't strain at all, not carrying anything over 5 kg., Vampire.

My sister works for a medical insurance company and she told me about not carrying heavy things. She got the information from one of their associate doctors.

She's been let out and is asleep on our sofa atm. She was going to go straight home but we insisted she came to us for at least a few hours. DH went to collect her.

She has to go back to hospital this evening to collect some tablets. DH will take her then drop her off at home if that's what she wants or she can stay here for a couple of days.

vampire I've only just caught up with this and I'm very impressed you managed to get food on the table at all. Hope your friend is soon well.

Friend is still in hospital. They were planning to let her out but then took more xrays and decided that she needed to stay in so I guess it's even worse than they initially thought.

Glad your friend is getting medical attention and hopefully in the best place! Congratulations on the expected GCs, something to look forward to.
This will certainly be a Christmas to remember ! Enjoy what's left in a more peaceful way. x

No they def said aorta. I thought it was odd but it's what they said. But then I wouldn't be surprised if they've changed their minds by tomorrow because DH has had numerous diagnoses in the last few weeks depending on who he sees.

Been a beggar of a day lol. Friend was admitted to hospital last night for tests and DH got home about 5am. The children got up around 6.30am and thank goodness Santa had been. It was lovely watching them open their presents. Older DDs and DGCs came later and both brought brilliant news. I'm going to be a grandma again next July and next August!!

We phoned the hospital first thing in the hope we could collect our friend but the doctor hadn't done his rounds. She managed to phone us to tell us that she was having more tests but was hoping to be out later in the day. She also said that the night staff had forgotten to tell the day staff that she was diabetic and by the time they realised her sugar was haywire.

DH took her some pjs and a food parcel around midday. Turns out she's got a torn aorta? (sp) hence the pain and the blood.

Good job I wasn't planning a perfect Christmas because as well as our friend being seriously ill, my cooker decided to do it's own thing. Sometimes it was hot and sometimes it cooled down. I ended up slicing the chicken and nuking it in the microwave to play safe whilst the beef was like leather due to it's Strictly Come Dancing (slow, slow, quick, quick, slow) method of cooking. We finally managed to eat around 3.30pm. Only two and a half hours late Oh I forgot to mention I managed to virtually set the cauliflower and sprouts on fire by forgetting I'd put them on when I was worrying about the other things cooking
