I buy Premium Bonds for GC all the time and have never had a problem in fact I find them more organised than many banks. It is probably just volume of purchases of bonds because of raising of the maximum holding.

They seem to be shabolic, that's the kindest word I can find.

Tell them you want to be sure it arrives before Xmas.

You applied by post. Your email address doesn't come into it at all. That bit of "information" was rubbish.

They are probably having high demand at the moment due to Xmas so it could be still in the pipeline. I can't see any reason why you shouldn't check progress on the phone with NS&I.

Have you not got the stub of the cheque? The bank would have the cheque on your account on their computer.

Ring NS&I again. Don't worry. Cheques can't just disappear so long as you used the official envelope, or at least had the address correct.

Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble, but it doesn't surprise me.

It's taken my OH and I over a year trying to register a Lasting Power of Attorney with National Savings!! They kept rejecting the documents saying that they weren't dated. They were! Plus they were registered and validated by the Public Guardianship Office, but still they were rejected. It took the threat of a formal complaint to the Ombudsman to get it resolved, but no explanation as to why the situation had arisen angry

National Savings website which said download the form and post, this I did. I did think I could go to the post office so I clicked on the link for that but that went to an error, and still does. So I applied but didn’t hear anything, however the cheque was cashed. So I checked that nothing had been received by the nominated parent and phoned. I was told they could do nothing without details of the cheque. Also that I should have got an acknowledgement by email. This was strange because the form does not ask for an email address. Not inspired with much confidence I did ring the bank. The bank had no idea what National Savings were asking for. I rang back to National saving to ask and was told that was wrong I can only further my enquiry by writing in. She refused to do anything over the telephone. I have written in and will let you know if I get a reply. This is funny, I asked how I could stop the transaction (because I had a bad feeling that it was going to be a lot of hassle). She said I could not because it was a gift and only the recipient can stop it. Seems strange and completely at odds with the usual process when it is the purchaser that deals with a complaint, especially when the recipient never received it. However, I’m not sure how correct her information was as she also said the only way to make a complaint was by letter. I have since found out that this is not true. Anyway I shall abort this idea and while I’m at it draw out all the money I have in premium bonds and put them somewhere where the staff are more helpful.
