TriciaF. I post fairly often and sometimes on subjects that are not targeted at men. Everyone (except JBF, who as you see earlier in this thread does not want my comments) appears to accept my input and even welcome it occasionally (except JBF)

My comments are often tongue in cheek and a little over the top, they seem to be taken in the right spirit (except for JBF)

It's hard to ignore you jings but it can be done wink

Greenfinch Sun 16-Nov-14 12:47:08

12Michael has suggested on the local forum (Oxfordshire) that he would be interested in a meet-up but it hasn't been taken up I don't think.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 16-Nov-14 12:33:57

Sometimes I'm quite glad of being ignored.

Lona Sun 16-Nov-14 11:24:51

Yes, there definitely was a granddad who went to a few meetups. lefthanded you're not alone at being ignored, most of us are ignored some of the time or even quite a lot of the time, it's not because you're a man, it just happens!
That's life smile

Marmight Sun 16-Nov-14 11:21:57

wink

annsixty Sun 16-Nov-14 11:16:10

Great minds Marmight.

annsixty Sun 16-Nov-14 11:14:52

I think a GD,a man anyway, attended a get together at Galen's house. She posted some photographs, could be wrong!!

Marmight Sun 16-Nov-14 11:09:38

I remember that too When. I have a feeling Galen was involved. -perhaps chez-Galen a couple of years back?

whenim64 Sun 16-Nov-14 10:40:06

Yes, I remember seeing the photos of a Grandad going to a meetup. Someone will most likely come along shortly to remind us.

TriciaF Sun 16-Nov-14 10:39:56

To the men on here - I can imagine what you feel like. One of the forums I belong to is male-dominated, it's all you guys, blokes, lads, fellas etc.
I hardly dare put a word in, and when I do I can see my view is always different from the masculine opinions.
I've tried to get my husband to join in here but no success yet.

annodomini Sun 16-Nov-14 10:33:19

Is there a record of any grandad attending a meet-up - with or without a purple scarf?

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 16-Nov-14 10:07:17

Please don't let GN degenerate to the old nudge and wink stuff!

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 16-Nov-14 10:05:30

Ok! Shall we not go there?! hmm

Unless you're really bored.

whitewave Sun 16-Nov-14 09:59:56

Are you a "leg man" then pompa?

pompa Sun 16-Nov-14 09:52:43

I doubt any of the GD's here were felt excluded by Nina's thread, I certainly wasn't. GD's are in the minority, so there are bound to be a significant number of threads that are female orientated. Even when I have contributed ???? to a female thread there has not been much backlash. (Leggings for example) I think there was only one GNer that said I should keep my opinions on female matters to myself, which as I consider myself well qualified to comment on ladies legs, I ignored smile

kittylester Sun 16-Nov-14 09:40:09

To be fair Nina, didn't that thread also mention man bags? And, I think pompa contributed. Obviously, I could be thinking about a totally different thread!

It is always good to get lots of posts from different people and lots of us are ignored when we have posted - I know I am! I often get loads of support too.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 16-Nov-14 09:24:34

And you had better make it a rucksack. Or a man bag.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 16-Nov-14 09:23:16

You could use a windsock pompa. Make a good stand-in for a scarf.

Iam64 Sun 16-Nov-14 09:19:50

I'm just back from a visit to the other place. It's so lively over there grin

Agus Sun 16-Nov-14 09:14:54

lefthanded some people do not 'blue' their names for privacy reasons that being the reason we have the option to blue or not.

Had you wanted to go to a meet up, when putting your name forward, you could just have joked that as a man, you wouldn't be sporting a handbag that day grin

pompa Sun 16-Nov-14 09:11:20

And, I would not be bothered if it was necessary for me to tie a scarf to my handbag for a meet up. That would probably be my rugby scarf tied to a Tesco bag.

pompa Sun 16-Nov-14 09:08:55

I lurk on most threads, but only comment on those where I either feel qualified, annoyed, affected or just want to add a little humour. Some days this may be many threads, others hardly any, but I certainly post most days. I think my posts make it pretty obvious which gender I am, if not my photos are a clue.
Of late, I have never felt excluded from any thread (ignored yes), this was not the case a year or so back, I left GN because there was open hostility against GD's. That is not the case any longer, I wish we had a few more GD's here so we could talk blokey stuff more often.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 16-Nov-14 08:58:10

I wonder if there are any posters on here now who visited from The Other Place and decided to stay. Which, of course, is fine. Just wondering.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 16-Nov-14 08:55:47

Oh for goodness sake. Have we really got to apologise because a man has a hissy-fit? Come on!

And do we really want GN to continually cosy and sucking up?
