I have just scrolled down the Christmas book thingy and amazed at all the grans there. Most I have never heard of, come on secret grans love to hear from you on our chat line!!!

matson Sat 15-Nov-14 13:25:00

Although I have been a member of gransnet for donkeys years and read the post most days, I stopped posting because of comments and people just so ready to " jump " on you. !

merlotgran Sat 15-Nov-14 13:30:54

Crow has got a point. When you read the bookclub Q&A at the end of the month it's always the same Gransnetters who take part. You rarely see any of the 'invisible' members participating. hmm

annodomini Sat 15-Nov-14 14:04:46

Take heart, Crow, the winners of the Mason Cash bake-ware competition were both regular posters. It can happen!

annodomini Sat 15-Nov-14 14:08:09

Correction - I should have said that two of the winners of the said competition were regulars. The others? Not too sure.

I was so relieved when Galen won, I have to admit.

That comping link is really quite scary.

Galen Sat 15-Nov-14 14:20:28

I'm a real gran and Gransnetters, honest!

janerowena Sat 15-Nov-14 14:25:54

grin

You could always be a fake Galen.

What have you done with the real one?

Galen Sat 15-Nov-14 14:34:18

Strangled her. She was a right pain in the a**e!grin

Galen Sat 15-Nov-14 14:34:57

hmm according to darling daughter!

alex57currie Sat 15-Nov-14 14:40:05

Matson Just let that go over your head. You'll find that other GN's will rally round. Call it healthy dialogue. It's refreshing to exchange ideas/opinions. These are for you flowers

janerowena Sat 15-Nov-14 14:44:15

Some things people write aren't as clear as they think they are, as I have discovered. It's so easy to take things slightly wrongly, or phrase your thoughts badly.

I plan to exasperate DD at some point. I'm sure it's my turn.

Geraldine62 Sat 15-Nov-14 14:49:32

You are all so funny you make me laugh, it's like you're all sat around me in my office/study/spare bedroom (with no bed so no guests!, that'll stop them!)
Having you all here is kind of scary nearly as scary as that link you posted Jinglebellfrocks, (great name by the way)

Galen and Janerowena you should have a double act! or come on my radio show on a Friday morning https://www.facebook.com/nanasnatter
and join in the nonsense and musicals, show tunes and laughter with my and my resident guest nana netty, just wish she would learn or take part in social media too!

Anyway I ramble look forward to nattering with you all again soon smile

Gagagran Sat 15-Nov-14 14:57:34

I really think GNHQ should have some way of excluding all the one-post- compers from these prize draws. It seems really unfair to me that they see our forum as just a competition site to try and plunder.

Galen Sat 15-Nov-14 14:58:04

Glad I'm good for something!
Think I'm having a tea party day ( mad hatter's type, not American politics)

rosequartz Sat 15-Nov-14 16:07:48

How's the baking going, Galen? Lots and lots of lovely [cupcakes] , mince pies, Christmas cake! We can't wait.

I did win a lovely set of children's books which I will share amongst the DGC or I could read them to you all if you wish.

#definitelynotlurking

Geraldine62 Sat 15-Nov-14 16:08:28

I agree Gagagran, and I'm sure you're good at anything you put your mind to Galen, I love a spot of tea too! brew cheers wink

rosequartz Sat 15-Nov-14 16:08:35

what happened there? Oh well, don't like cupcakes anyway, I prefer a nice Victoria sandwich. wink

Galen Sat 15-Nov-14 16:59:15

Bakeware hasn't arrived yet! Never tried cupcakes. Graggy (banana) bread is the height of my repertoire at the moment. I only bake when seeing dgd's as I'm on a pernament diet!

Ariadne Sat 15-Nov-14 19:23:37

Your barm brack is pretty good, Galen!

soontobe Sat 15-Nov-14 19:41:42

Jane10, I suspect there are a lot more like you, than the people who regularly post. Nothing wrong in that.

matson. I have only been on here 2 weeks myself.
From what I have noticed at first glance, the few who post a bit off, either retract it, or as janerowena says, it doesnt always quite read as intended[I am guilty of this].
The other option that I have come across is that the same few posters jump on most people, it is not personal if you see what I mean. Hope that helps.

janerowena Sat 15-Nov-14 19:45:26

geraldine62 I could never be let loose on a radio station. Here, I can alter what I say before I say it, as it were. On a radio station I would probably be labelled The Next Katie Hopkins. In real life I am completely and horribly flippant and irreverent - in the true sense of the word.

etheltbags1 Sat 15-Nov-14 20:01:23

Im a proper gran and often post things so does this mean that for once Im not in trouble for upsetting someone. guess I ve been a bit controversial in the past .lol never win anything either.

Ana Sat 15-Nov-14 20:04:15

ethel, you have certainly livened things up in the past - which is no bad thing! [grin)

Ana Sat 15-Nov-14 20:04:35

grin Gah!

etheltbags1 Sat 15-Nov-14 20:14:53

Ana, whats Gah mean, I know your not a fan of mine but what have I said now. (innocent wide eyed smile)
