Good Morning Tuesday 20th October 2026
Slainte to all my Granspals. Settle down and relax. The bubbly is nicely chilled.
Oh Iam I love smoked salmon but haven't got any brown bread. Hold on for a few minutes and I will dash (!) down to the corner shop and get some. I'll be back befor the tea gets cold.
I've not been in the kitchen for too long, a reflection of a busy and emotional time in my own kitchen. I've just found a large pack of smoked salmon in the fridge, bought but not eaten by our lodgers. (daughter and fiancé) Anyone got any brown bread to go with it, I've got the butter and lemons, and will make a pot of tea.
Found you! I've flopped on to a chair in the corner, with my hands folded in my lap, having not even taken off my apron, just want to see what everyone is up to before I head off on the Eurostar tomorrow, to end up "In Bruges".
Daughter and SIL are now happily settled, kitty
with seemingly no plans to go anywhere fast. In fact, she told me tonight "Dad says we can stay for as long as we like"
. Their cat, Miss Mia Ow, will only drink water straight from the tap, and you have to get the trickle of water just so as per her instructions!
I'm looking forward to 2 nights in that hotel overlooking the canal...
Oh dear, someone else has had a fall - hope you are recovering, Brenda
We really do have to stick to the
for the time being I think (don't all groan). Perhaps we can save ourselves for Christmas? Or a party before Christmas? We could have a sleepover in soop's kitchen.
If any of those dinosaur biscuits need testing Galen, I'm your girl! A broken one will be fine. I must look out for the mould in Lakeland (we have a new Lakeland store not too far away!) as I'm sure DGS would love to help mummy make some.
Not crazy Galen just a loving grandma. I spend ages preparing things for my DGC too. Usually things for us to make or play with rather than baking. I love them too much to poison them
. Hope you have a good time with your DGC.
soop The staff in Freedom Fields hospital in Plymouth threatened to put his cot in the laundry room, so that the new mums could get some sleep
It was your babe keeping us all awake was it!!
I just remember that they took DD1 away to 'give me a good night's sleep' and I never slept a wink fretting and wondering what was wrong.
They were very bossy in that hospital.
Hello all. Just to let you know that the virtual champagne of yesterday that caused my head to make violent contact with the corner of the wardrobe has worn off. Even managed to brush my long hair very carefully today.
Take it easy, that's a laugh, husband feeling unwell and three DGC to babysit. My sore head had to take a back seat as usual.
Well done, moomin an excellent good cause. You would get along famously with my younger sister. She devotes her life to her family and any dog on the planet in need of TLC.
Galen Us lot forbid you to catch a cold. You need to be in the rudest of health when you meet with Bella If there's any cake going begging...yes please...we'd all appreciate a very large slice. Only the best grannies go to the trouble of making dinosaur cakes. You will earn yourself extra brownie points. Well deserved.
annsixty that Galen isn't easily flummoxed. If she's baking dinosaurs...they had better not fail. As we all know, she's a tough, soft-centred cookie.
I'm off. Time to look busy.
MacSporran has an appointment to see the very best GP in our practice on Thursday morning. Hopefully she'll be able to sort him out. He's being so patient. All that he asks for is a date with the haematologist, so that he can start whatever treatment may be necessary.
Ah! A new kitchen - very cozy as usual
I expect the champers has all gone by now so may I help myself to a small nip of the hard stuff please? Been out this morning "meeting and greeting" with the hound collecting donations and singing the praises of retired greyhounds to anyone interested enough to listen!
I use a baking release spray. It's important to let it cool completely then be very careful.
I have just googled and some reviewers have had trouble getting them out in one piece. Have you encountered this prob Galen?
I will google those, one of mine is obsessed too.
Lakeland do these lovely 2part tray moulds that make 6 dinosaurs. Having two dinosaur mad DGC it was a no brainer
Oh I misunderstood, I was thinking animal type biscuits.
Cake rather than biscuits
They're 3D dinosaurs.
Biscuits freeze very well uncooked*Galen*you could cook them just before go.
Dr flour? SR flour rather
Darling daughter called off my visit today as she is full of cold and I don't want one just before I go on my cruise as I always get a nasty chest infection when I get a cold.
Hope to go up next week. The banana cake is in the freezer. I hope they freeze ok, does anyone know?
I might do the dinosaurs tomorrow and freeze them as well. What do folks think. It's just a marg/ egg/ sugar/ Dr flour recipe!
Although come to think of it, dinosaurs didn't survive the ice age!
Lucky you, Galen...trust you to have a strapping, handsome minder. I bet the thought of him lifting you over his shoulder puts a
on your face. You are such a rascal.
AlieO Love the story. I'm giggling. You are a heroine.
Brenda I can well imagine hoe shocked you must have been after your nasty tumble. Heads really know how to bleed. Bless you, I hope that you are recovering. Please take things easy for a while.
kitty shopping with one small child in tow is what I call a challenge. Accompanied by two small children...that goes beyond the call of duty.
ffinnochio the cotoneaster looks delightful. Thank you. x
We've been without power since nine o'clock this morning. Obviously, as I'm on-line, we've been reconnected. My pal's supply, she lives on the other side of the village, was not affected. I was therefore able to catch up with her ironing. She's sick and in bed with a heavy cold. Just after the eleven o'clock two minutes silence, her husband [ex-paratrooper] gave me a wee dram. Together we toasted the fallen. The ceremony on television was extremely moving. The thirteen year old cadet who planted the final ceramic poppy, must have felt honoured as he performed the task and saluted.
My gardner is called Gary and he's married to my cleaner Kate. They are key holders for if I have to used alarm pendant. He's about 6' 3" and on his fourties. He lifted up my 14stone as if I was a feather
Visions of you hoisting up the car on one shoulder (like Atlas!) AlieOxon.
Hi all. I wish my gardener would turn up. He's gone out of touch.
I rescued him one time, when he had a flat tyre and no jack!
So this is where you all are! Sorry to hear of spills and snuffles- well it is November- and hoping you are all warm, dry and safe. And in the event of needing to be rescued by gardener/burly fireman remember to stay suitably attired with full make up at all times!
galen was it Mellors or more Joe Grundy?
Sorry for you Brenda what a shock you must have had.
I'll stay over here by the Aga so I don't infect you all - yes it was a cold not Hay Fever I was in denial- could I have another scotch please?
