What do you take up with you when you go to bed?

I take my handbag and make sure my purse and phone are inside and I make sure I know where my keys are in case I need to make a hasty exit.

Ana Thu 25-Sept-14 22:03:38

I take all those things as well, glass, plus a cup of tea!

Anne58 Thu 25-Sept-14 22:05:05

Digby! He is carried up to reflect his status as senior cat, but plonked rather unceremoniously on the bed. Oliver Sprout toddles along behind under his own steam.

Other than that, just a glass of water.

Anne58 Thu 25-Sept-14 22:08:13

Heavens, it makes me seem rather lax, especially as I'm on my own during the week.

It's only in the last month or so that I have remembered to actually lock the front door! shock

My handbag, purse and phone are all left downstairs in the kitchen.

glassortwo Thu 25-Sept-14 22:08:36

Oh I forgot the water it dilutes the glass of wine I have had with my tea grin

Ana Thu 25-Sept-14 22:11:28

I've already taken the water glass upstairs well before I go to bed, and fill it from the bathroom tap!

janeainsworth Thu 25-Sept-14 22:11:43

Does your handbag actually sleep with you, Glass? grin

gillybob Thu 25-Sept-14 22:16:59

I never take my handbag up to bed with me and tend to leave it in the hallway, much to DH's annoyance, who says someone could hook it out through the letterbox. I doubt that very much as my "handbag" is huge and weighs a ton, being full of the usual crap stuff. I do take my phone, a glass of lemon and lime flavored water (no other will do) and whatever book I happen to be reading at the time (or my kindle) although admittedly don't often get around to reading it. smile

glassortwo Thu 25-Sept-14 22:19:39

No at the bottom of the bed jane grin and the kindle is in the handbag.

Deedaa Thu 25-Sept-14 22:20:11

I take two pots of dry cat food, a renal one for Toyah who has kidney problems and a normal one for the other three. I know I will be mugged several times during the night. I can't shut the bedroom door as they will rip up the carpet.

glassortwo Thu 25-Sept-14 22:21:26

And Dh usually asking where his phone and glasses are!

shysal Thu 25-Sept-14 22:21:43

Just my mobile phone and two Chillows from the fridge! The handbag lives in the cupboard under the stairs.
In the bedside drawer I have library book, spare glasses, a back scratcher, and notepad and pencil in case of inspiration during the night.

tiggypiro Thu 25-Sept-14 22:22:08

A cup of Camomile tea and anything else that lives upstairs but for some reason is downstairs. Purdy is still confined to the sitting room and kitchen and usually leaps into the warm spot where I have been sitting but no doubt before long will be upstairs too.

ninathenana Thu 25-Sept-14 22:24:29

I always take my handbag, with keys, purse and phone. Usually I take DH with me but sometimes he follows later grin.
My kindle lives on the bedside table.

gillybob Thu 25-Sept-14 22:26:29

I have a notepad and pen in my top bedside drawer too shysal I wake up quite a bit during the night worrying about something or other and find it really helps to make a scribbled note while it's fresh. Mind you I sometimes get up and wonder what the hell I have written! grin

glassortwo Thu 25-Sept-14 22:26:35

My kindle is in handbag for when ever I can sneak a page or two throughout the day.

annodomini Thu 25-Sept-14 22:55:47

I take my handbag containing all the paraphernalia previously enumerated! Kindle is usually upstairs already - under my pillow!

Ana Thu 25-Sept-14 22:57:31

Aren't we all well-organised! grin

janerowena Thu 25-Sept-14 23:07:25

It's never entered my head to take my bag upstairs! shock

But as I too have notepad and pen, spare glasses, kindle, nail file, tissues, pile of books (also on the floor), spare cushion for propping up of kindle and self, torch in case of powercut, water, eyemask, watch and various other things at my bedside I really think taking any more stuff upstairs would be excessive.

merlotgran Thu 25-Sept-14 23:13:01

Heck, I've never thought to take my handbag to bed. It hangs on a chair in the kitchen. DH puts his wallet in the drawer of his bedside table so he's obviously got more sense.

Years ago when I was zonked out on painkillers for sciatica and shingles I left the back door wide open and my purse on the kitchen table. When I got up the next morning I found my Rhodesian Ridgeback laid across the back door mat, obviously guarding the establishment. The two Jack Russells and the cat were curled up in her basket!

POGS Fri 26-Sept-14 00:25:28

Blimey, I. don't take anything with me, I just go to bed.

kittylester Fri 26-Sept-14 06:23:07

Me too POGS - my book is up there already!

Liz46 Fri 26-Sept-14 07:10:12

Like Phoenix I take the cat and a glass of water but Phoenix, I hope you cover the water with a piece of card. My cat has a drink of my water if I don't.

FlicketyB Fri 26-Sept-14 07:21:13

Hot drink and my kindle. Apart from that all I have on my bedside table is a table lamp and an alarm clock.

My handbag lives on a hook behind all the coats in the coat cupboard.

Marmight Fri 26-Sept-14 08:03:16

Mobile phone, iPad, last weekend's newspaper, large bottle of water to replenish glass of water otherwise everything else is already there.
