I have since been back to Ancestry to see what I had put on my tree about him, and have now include the divorce, 1981.

Why is it when you go looking for something you can't find anything, but when you aren't looking things jump off the shelves at you?

I usually go shopping with some vague pre-conceived idea of what I want, only to find current trends are totally different. I am beginning to really dislike shopping for clothes - yet I saw some ladies last weekend who looked smart and trendy without being mutton dressed as spring lamb - I did not really know them so I did not find the courage to ask where they shop!

I did buy tights!

I took back a pair of jogging pants to M&S yesterday because a seam split the first time I wore them- no questions asked, money back. I had a look at cardigans and tops and I do not think that anybody told the buyer of tops that winter is on its way. I saw slinky, thin tops more appropriate for July, although I would prefer cotton to the synthetic material on display. The cardigans I saw were fluffy, fine if one is size 8 and aged 18. I returned home, not having spent a penny on clothes.

Glad I'm good for something!
Think I'll invest in a handmade made to measure kilt. I've found a firm that does them all I've got to do is chose the tartan or tweed, take my waist and skirt length measurement then find £240

And - why should my ex-husband (ex since 1981 and not in touch for years) suddenly send a DVD of family history info to my two daughters.....?

I have steam coming out of my ears and need to relax. Yesterday, DH and I were nearly cleaned up on our way home from town by a boy racer on our side of the road on a nasty bend and, in exactly the same place, DD1's SiL had to swerve to miss a motorcyclist going like a bat out ot hell on the wrong side of the road and ended upside down, facing the wrong way, in a ditch. Luckily she isn't badly hurt but people drive like idiots down the road even though there is a 40 mph speed limit in force.

We heard 4 lots of sirens going past our house (for the 3rd time this week) and wondered what was happening.

And then, to top it all, the Idiot is playing silly b*****s again and DD has been in tears all morning.

Apart from that all is well!!

jamsidedown I also would have paid the £200 to get somebody to put the wardrobe together. I still think that is an excessive amount of money- do you not have handymen in your area who would do the job for a qusrter of what was offered? Will your DH finish it before Christmas or will you be heading for the divorce court over it?

I no longer buy anything flatpack- I am useless at putting anything together and one chest of drawers took 3 months because not all of the parts were sent. Two friends put it together eventually.

Is there a quiet corner in the kitchen where I can have 40+ winks? I have a bad back at present and cannot find a position in bed which does not cause pain so last night, after several really disturbed nights I decided to try to sleep in a chair.

Well, I managed a series of short naps but not a proper sleep so today, feeling somewhat zombiefied, I keep snoozing involuntarily as soon as I sit down. It's really odd, this back of mine, as soon as I get moving around it sort of unknots and the discomfort (that's what medics call pain you know!) eases. Just can't lie down. I really want a nice long sleep! (Some TLC would be nice too if anyone has any to spare?)

soop yes it has arrived and it's like a giant 3D jigsaw! There are bits everywhere and a great deal of muttering. I have been out most of the morning and intend to go up the 'lottie this afternoon - best to keep out of the way apart from providing cups of tea. Personally I felt £200 would have been money well spent.

Apparently the chap who delivered the wardrobe bits had broken his hand 11 days ago, he had a sort of cast on it. He couldn't afford to take time off and carried the heavy mirrored doors upstairs, saying "it's my job". He couldn't afford to take time off. These makes me feel awful, how we are treating people these days.

jamsidedown You have earned yourself a gold star. I trust that you have recovered from yesterday's comings and goings. Regarding the visit to Next...I am chortling out loud. Has the wardrobe [in pieces] arrived? Is it in the process of being put together? I know how you must be feeling. Whenever MacS threatens to do a job himself, I tend to have a dizzy spell. Not that he's bad at what he does, far from it, but... I shall be thinking of you. Please keep us updated.

Crafting here I am with my glass of , phew, it's been a busy day. Painting until lunchtime, then off to look at Next for DH to check out how the Hammonds wardrobes are put together as we have one being delivered tomorrow in pieces and DH has refused to have their fitter and is saving us £200 by DIY ing it himself (that's quite a few bottles of and also [cupcakes]. Then to see DGD for her birthday, then back home to order Thai takeaway and then to local wildlife group meeting - which ran over. Hence very late dinner and now on the with a sit down. Bella You may well need a vest when you visit your sister. Although the long range forecast is looking promising. I wore woollen gloves when we walked this afternoon. The wind had a bite to it.

When we put our home in Cornwall on the property market, we were advised to hide photos and remove several paintings and a large collection of ornaments. I managed to hide quite a lot of stuff in MacS's office [a goose house that he converted]. We did sell - to an artistic lady who then decided that she would like the office transformed into her art gallery. So - the goose house that became an office was enlarged and smartened and became a gallery. She loved it!

hildajenniJ I'm pleased that you have returned to us. Although Jura is a beautiful island, I feel that it might be a journey too far (should we ever decide to leave Kintyre)...It is the island of the deer. We have some marvellous photos of a very large herd casually crossing the road.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend harrigran and sad for you.

Soutra I'm glad that you and your DH enjoyed yourselves and are home safely. My DH and I are going up to London tomorrow and having a couple of sightseeing, theatre going days which we haven't done for at least 15 years.
I'm looking forward to it but feel a bit like a country cousin going up to the big city.

bella I have friends who had their house up for sale for ages when they had the chance to show it on one of the Place in the Sun programmes. They had a massive clear up and were told they had to go out for the day. Within a month they had sold their house and were on their way back to England. It was a complete coincidence, the new owners hadn't seen the programme!!
I'm glad your DH is feeling a bit better and you will be able to see your sister. You might be lucky with the weather, I think they are trying to use up all the rain this week.

Crafting I told my daughter on Sunday that I was pretty sure the baby had turned round (having learned a long time ago how to tell) and it seems I was right!
She's going in on the 3rd at lunchtime, being put on a drip and she says they are to break her waters on the 4th.
