Is it too early to put the t.v. on?

I often have the telly on with the sound off throughout the day and turn the sound up if I spot something interesting but it annoys me when the S.O. walks in and automatically turns it on if it's switched off. I do switch between tv programmes and Radio 6 a lot of the time. Pooter goes on a soon as I wake up. I fall asleep watching BBC4 most nights and often wake up throughout the night and watch bits of programmes before nodding off again.

I only put the TV on when I want to watch a certain programme, no matter the time, otherwise it stays silent in the corner.

DH has to have TV on all the time and spends most of the time ignoring it and doing something else or flicking from channel to channel never watching anything through.
I am so glad of the new technology so I can tune the TV in to a radio station which keeps him happy for a while. I have already used a TV guide app to plan what I want to see and set the recorder. I then watch what I want when I want, no ads, no flicking, no dross, no boredom and no missing a favourite programme because of life getting in the way.
I have been known to catch up on several episodes in the morning if there's nothing else to do and to watch iPlayer on the laptop (with earphones) while he watches back to back Time Team!!

We only have one TV and it's in the sitting room. I never have it on during the day (except perhaps at Christmas or occasionally to watch the racing, but that really is once in a blue moon). I (and Mr P when he's here) are usually in the kitchen/dining room during the day, and I always have Radio 4 on. I don't go through to the sitting room until around 7.30pm.

No rules, I do though think I spend too much time on Facebook. I switch the TV on when I want to watch a programme, doesn't matter what time of day it is. Just do it grin

When I first retired I made it a rule not to put the t.v on until the evening. Now is goes on late afternoon but for some reason I look at the clock to make sure it is not 'too early' before I switch on. Do others set these silly rules for themselves.
