As I don't have a lot of people to celebrate my birth day with,
I've suddenly take a decision!smile

I've booked an 18 day cruise on the Queen Elizabeth from Venice to Southampton that takes in my birthday .

Sounds like you will have a good real and 'virtual' time celebrating!

I shall be 70 at the New Year. Great timing by my parents, everyone's broke and partied-out, been here for Christmas then gone home for return to work and school.
My birthday's always a cold wet wash-out but I know my daughters are planning a special celebration, probably involving a £25 contribution from each. It won't be a cruise, maybe a canoe on the canal!

Never mind apricot, the main thing is we are well and alive to celebrate our 70th birthdays! Why don't you treat yourself to some nice artwork, there are some lovely canvas art all ready to hang [ buy online for best choice] that's what we did for a recent birthday.

My DH is 70 next year. His birthday is always on the most inconvenient day of the year. Think hungover day when you're young. I do not have a clue what to give him. He is not someone who likes possessions. I was thinking a days fishing on a good river but yesterday he said he no longer wanted to go fishing by himself and I really can't afford to buy for two people and treat a friend.

Sorry Galen I didn't wish you a happy birthday but surely it's next year?

My birthday is third December. I leave uk on 28 nov return 16 dec.
I shall be in Messina Sicily for the dread date! I fly out Venice and come back to Southampton after visiting Italy, Croatia, Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar.
I've booked Princess grills so no butler this time. You only get that if you upgrade to Queens-grill. The times I've done it it was a free upgrade!

Oh dear! Do you think I'll manage without a butler and two free bottles of vodka and the caviar?

Galen Mon 25-Aug-14 10:33:34

Bella actually we do call at Malta. I'm there on the second of December. Valletta.
Mind you last time I was supposed to call in Malta we couldn't get in as strong winds in the wrong direction.

It will certainly be a struggle but I am sure that you will get used to slumming it without a butler!!!

What was your last butler like? More to the point what did he do for you!!

Did you find yourself getting bossy? I am sure I would.
