I sent off my passport application to UKPA 19 June, it expires mid September.

Today I received the new passport.

1 My 1st set of photos were rejected , 3 weeks gone

2 Second set rejected another 3 weeks.

19 Aug sent a third set off plus an email to my MP, and wonderously they are accepted.

I, in my professional life was a photographer, did all my own darkroom work , now of course its all digital, I am competant enough with that to produce a decent print on my Canon printer.

Yesterday I read in Mumsnet how many people were being stressed out by the inefficiencies of UKPA.

My MP [Lab] has pressed the magic button, to get the desired result. My hero for now

Another post perhaps in 10 years , if I am still here

They are very fussy now about the pics for passports , did they say what was wrong with them?

I renewed my passport just after we moved to Italy. I had to send the application to Paris (not Rome) and had a phone call saying my photos were not acceptable. I had another lot done (fortunately free) and sent them off when lo and behold my passport arrived with the original photos!! I think that's a case of right hand not knowing what left is doing!!

1st lot 12, 16, 19

2nd 11, 16.

At least the passport pix now in the passport do not show the wrinkles!!!

Sorry I think they are totally incompetent, however I did not harass the phone line to complain.

I dont need a passport till mid Sept at earliest.

They did not even add on the time remaining till expiry, as should be done, according to the web site.

I sent the application via the website rather going down the GPO option,

That is not the preferred route, from a revenue earner

We think it is worth paying the PO the little bit extra to know that the form has been checked and all is in order. As we need ours to go and see our DS it is not worth the risk of having to wait. I would hate for him or his family to need us and us not be able to go.

If you read some of the blogs, please do , pix passed by the GPO are rejected., SADLY

Some years ago I used the PO checking service but my application was still returned because of some small mistake. I got the money back but I didn't bother using it again.

Thanks, I actually need one.

I suffer from SAD, and need a dose of southern light........... Thats until I cant travel

Perhaps we have all been lucky but every one of us has used the PO and each time our passport has arrived hassle free within a week.

A friend had her passport application refused because her email address was too long! All she could so was miss it off next time, which was acceptable.

I live in the city of Durham which is home to a passport office. I was told, today that no one works a full week there because they get double pay for weekends and triple pay for bank holidays and a two day week plus overtime is the norm. Maybe this accounts for the backlog.

Mr N"S passport does not expire until May 2015. However as we are going on holiday in February[if the Good Lord spares us], it will be renewed in October.

To give the passport office plenty of time.

He is going online this time as it speeds things up, not that he is in SUCH a hurry, but sooner it is done the better.

DD gave us that tip ---- Bless !!

We renewed in December and I forgot to sign the cheque blush so got a rejection. The letter didn't say exactly what the problem was so I had to phone the Passport Office, and was treated with perfect courtesy (in spite of my having been so stupid) and given a choice of ways to pay. Once I had got it right, the passports arrived very quickly, so three cheers from me for the passport people as they can get it right sometimes!
