'Bo Peeps Arms' (formerly Pete's Bar) reopening night

A-hem. Due to an unforeseen emergency (eg: massive hangover) we will be opening up a bit late tonight, say around 9-00pm - which will give you lovely laydees and gentees time to have a couple of pints in the Drunken Duck on your way over.

Thank you sparky for offering to play your piano tonight - anybody else like to bring their instruments along? we could have a Music Night (just don't tell Macca) - anyone know the chords for Bohemian Rhapsody on the kazoo?

I have heard the pig on the bar has now gone to pork scratching heaven.

Whoever that is banging on the door - you'll have to wait 5 mins, then pop round the back to the Saloon Bar near the Gents outside toilet (make sure you hold your nose). There's a load of twine, a dogs lead and a fireman's badge jammed under the Public front door and I can't open it - which means I'm locked in

glam. Hope you helped yourself to a B & C last night? the (empty) 'honesty box' is at the end of the bar. Looks like they all went down to the Drunken Duck last night (I heard through the grapevine they're stepping up the odds and put on a 'special' of pan fried winkles in vinegar - with a finger of bread and a free pin. I can't compete with that. So much for loyalty.

(Apologies all round for my absence at the bar last night - in another, parallel world I had a migraine - 'flashing lights' sort and couldn't see my way to the bar - back tonight though).

glam could we discuss the Menu - have you ever cooked cockles? eel?

bo well you would never believe it but I used to go cockling with my dad at Moreton Shore and can cook cockles to perfection with just the right amount of vinegar,but eel well thats a totally different thing all together (yuck emotion).I'll have a think of a cheap & cheerful menu fitting to the tastes of our laydee's & genteel men

Miss M is having a stab at tonight's quiz. It features dog biscuits, but I don't want to give too much away. She's trying to prise the slipper off my foot at the moment, but promises to put her best paw forward.

Mrs Pickle yes thats right Moreton on The Wirral I lived in Wallasey Village all my life until the foreign move for quite a few years, now back in sunny New Brighton but I still don't like eels so keep the bucket well away from me merlot saying that I did see a programme on TV the other night about the production of jellied eels so still not endeared to the slimy things.

glam - when you next pop in could you bring the cockles with you? I have half a box of Country Manor perry that was left over from Monday night - it's gone very vinegary, so we can 'make do and mend' and save having to buy vinegar. Can't find any pins, but there's a few nails lying around outside from the door being broken down in the Opening Ceremony - will they do? I've got lots of stale bread I can toast for the 'fingers'. What about pudding? Spotted dick and custard? or tin peaches and evaporated milk?

MrsP, Back in the last century, when I were a lass, tin peaches with 'Libby's' evap' was Sunday tea treat, for Christmas it would be a tin of fruit salad between the four of us - we'd have half a tin cherry each

Ah, the convolutions and whorls of Libby's condensed milk in the syrup in tinned pears, matched only by spoonfuls of Fussels thick sweetened condensed milk spread on sugared bread. Calories, cholesterol, tooth-root? Nobody bothered in those days. Just surprising we're still here! What about a nostalgia night about all this, Bo? We could dress as articles of the period. Bags-I come as a clove ball - I am the right shape.

Can a Northumbrian lass join you tonight? I was brought uo tee-total and still haven't been to many nights out in the pub. The bo-peep arms sounds like a great place to have a knees-up. Is it far, can I walk or do I need a taxi. Can't contribute much but I've got a couple of bottles of raspberry cider that Mr. hjj bought and doesn't like. He's gone to work so I need a bit of company. Mrs P can I bring the Wiser dog with me, she'll be company for Miss M., she's 15 but still a fun dog to have around.

Welcome hilda. Raspberry cider most acceptable - I suspect Pogs, with her very strange taste in ciders (toffee?) will love it.

Dogs are welcome as long as their owners are kept on a lead.

Opening time's around 8.30pm - depends what time glam comes down with the cockles. In the meantime, I chucked a few cushions out the front for punters to sit on while they wait for opening up. Just ignore the pig tied to the fence, someone forgot to take her home last night, but she's had a couple of bottles of lemonade and a packet of crisps to keep her going

I am very well trained on the lead. Miss M says all dogs are her friends and she's looking forward to a knees up. She said could she tell a joke. I've told her no, because she only has the one in her repertoire and involves sniffing her nether regions.
