It's my 50th birthday in ten days time.

How have you celebrated your new decade arriving?

Thank you sparkygran for your lovely comment. smile

I've just ordered a cd of wonderful hymns and hymn book too. Looking forward to re-living some of my school memories. When I have two non believing children, I've lost myself somewhere, time to get me back. There's a great Jane McDonald song "The Girl Who Used to be Me". Very apt. flowers

50th - a week long art binge with my 3 DDs in Venice, one of whom had studied art history there. Bliss!

60th - big party with 50s/60s theme - everyone in suitable attire. Great fun!

Thanks again for the b/day greetings.

Nonu. I will go on celebrating the fact that I have had those years.

Ginny , excellent point however, to me why CELEBRATE the passing of the years?
SO , I will go with my theory of it just being a number !!

Hi ladies, well, I didn't manage to get either of the council houses that I had put in for last week so quite upset and disappointed this morning, no B & Q breakfast for my birthday next week. sad

Never mind, pulled myself back up by the bootstaps and got on with it. (We have a threatening neighbour we are trying to get away from).

So, ordered a pink budgie cage tonight, well, earlier, and we will get my budgie on the day. Hope it's a girl, don't know what a boy budgie will think living in a pink palace! smile

Yes Nonu it is just a number but why not celebrate every number we reach. Some are not so lucky.

Nonu Wed 16-Jul-14 21:27:22

"Age is just a number" I say one does not feel any different the day after!!

My 60th coming up in October, no dog now so I might just get a good book and curl up(my fave pastime). However my daughter who is shocked that i'm that old says we must mark the day so I think I will have to get dressed and go for a meal somewhere. Don't tell anyone but Im quite looking forward to it. lol

gagagran how nice to meet you my birthday is next week and we celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary last month sadly DH suffered a severe stroke 6 months ago so the celebrations were not what I had planned (which would have been much the same as your own) but DD set up afternoon tea at a very plush hotel and it was gorgeous. Balloons, fabulous afternoon tea, 11 family members (sadly neither of our sons one lives in California and the other with his family were in Florida on holiday!!) but nevertheless we enjoyed ourselves I say thank God for daughters.

Just sometimes best laid plans go astray but hey we are still both here and that counts for something

TREE, lucky you it IS a magical place I was there several years ago, and we enjoyed every minute !

Treebee Tue 15-Jul-14 15:13:09

My 60th was last month. We have had a difficult couple of years health wise so we went on holiday to Vancouver Island, BC, a place we had been dreaming of returning to.
My birthday was on the last day of the holiday, and we had afternoon tea at the Empress hotel in Victoria, dressing up and everything.
Was wonderful, I recommend it!
Happy birthday Ginny! Do enjoy Battle Proms. I believe my Rock Choir leader Pippa is performing with the Rockabellas , they are great. Enjoy!

Grannybug Tue 15-Jul-14 13:35:31

Happy 60th Ginny and enjoy every minute of it. I celebrated with family and friends and a firework display in the garden ! The caribean buffet was fab and the fireworks (professionally organised Ihasten to add) were spectacular but the best bit was all the laughter and chatter from friends and family and the cuddles from grandchildren.

Sparky we are the same vintage - I had my 70th last August. My DC and their families had all booked to go to a festival together for the same weekend as my birthday and I was a bit down in the dumps about that. However, lovely GN came to the rescue as I was lucky enough to win a short break at Warners so DH and I went for my birthday weekend and had a fabulous time.

It's our Golden Wedding next July and I have already "booked" both DC for the relevant weekend. Now I have to come up with a suitable celebration! confused

Last year was my 70th and I fulfilled one of my bucket list thingies. All my children came with husband, wife, children and the youngest from America my nephew joined us and we all went to Rathlin Island (N Ireland`s only inhabited off shore island and bird santuary) had always wanted to visit and made a weekend out of it with my brother and SiL joining us did I forget to mention DH was in tow. Hard to beat that one so next week for 71st (ugg) playing it cool.
