AlieO There are few pongs pongier than cat pee. Our cat, Rory the refined, has odourless pee. Is that true, you ask...and the answer is in the affirmative. Mind you, before 'the snip' it did pong something awful.

Charleygirl the temperature in London is way higher than it is here. It's reasonably fresh at the moment. We haven't had rain...yet! I cannot sleep in a warm bedroom. We have a fan but haven't had need of it. MacS attempted to pay for Tesco shopping with the debit card. We had to trek to the bank to sort matters out.

Agus A tasting of a variety of cheeses and guzzles sips of wine sounds so civilised. What a good idea of yours. and slurp Slainte!

Chances are that the power will be disrupted. Not had a storm yet that didn't plunge the peninsular into darkness.

Soda bic should do the trick Alie. Sprinkle it onto your carpet, leave for about 15mins then vacuum. May need a couple of,goes.

I am assuming that you do not have another M&S for many miles.

soop I could not bear to be without an M&S fairly close by. I love their coffee and I drink little else. I am fortunate that there is a food store about 3 miles away and an ordinary store a couple of miles away but there is a hike from the store to the car. If they did a delivery service I would probably rarely have to leave the house.

I wish M&S did a delivery service as well. I think they're missing out by not doing so!

Agus I will have to find a source of a larger quantity of bicarb - got some recently here, having come to the end of an ancient tub - and found I had five envelopes with a small teaspoonful in each....where have the big tubs gone?

I have met my MP Ed Vaizey this evening at his surgery; and I am in hopes that he will deliver a suitable kick up the backside to our local council....and get something done about the house next door!

More ice, charleygirl? Or have you cooled down now? Push Rory off your lap if he is making you hot.

The other M&S is miles in the other direction unfortunately, so ended up at Morrisons! We don't have an M&S very nearby, but nearer than 140 miles!

Hope Ed Vaizey can do something positive for you, Alie, and soon.
My SIL recommended a mix of bicarb and icing sugar (50/50) to get rid of ants (finding their way indoors) and it seems to be working. Bicarb is good for all kinds of things.

Hello all. We've been to the south coast for a few days and despite the weather forecast which was for overcast skies and storms we had glorious sunshine. I decided a paddle was in order to cool down, it was wonderful.

Good morning to all my Granspals. It cheers me no end to read so many messages. Thank you for saying that my Nana was beautiful. She was...inside and out. She was my maternal grandmother. In the photo she's in her late seventies...could have been early eighties. She had my mother out of wedlock and had a very tough life from thereon. She was such a kind and considerate lady. Worked almost to the end of her life as a housekeeper for two "posh" families. She and one of the ladies for whom she worked had some "fun times". There were occasions when "the master" went to his bank and "the mistress" and Nana had a few boozy drinking sessions. The master returned unexpectedly on one such occasion. The latch had been dropped on the door. The master had to ring the doorbell. Nana eventually opened the door to a very confused master of the house. Nana was squiffy [the mistress had given her Dubonnet and Guinness!]...when she opened the door she was clutching a carrier bag containing the empty bottles. The master enquired...Florrie, have you been drinking...? She gracefully slid down the wall and sat on her backside [still clutching the bag]...her reply was - hof corst not!

It is a clammy day. No rain or storm thus far. I shall return later this afternoon. (((hugs))) for you all.

Good afternoon, soop. I loved the story of your nana, and all your photos. I'm still only able to put one photo in my 'album' despite numerous attempts to find a solution. Never mind.

We have had a few celebrations this week. DS (our'baby') turned 23 on Thursday, and yesterday was our 30th wedding anniversary (although we've been together 34 and had our first two girls before we were married )

DH is doing very well. No nasty side effects, but he goes back into hospital on Tuesday for the next chemo session. Hope he will cope as well this time.

We visited his sister in hospital yesterday. She is back in there looking thinner than ever. She only weighs 44kg instead of the 50kg she was before. They are still draining fluid from her abdomen. She is due to start chemo on Thursday, but they were finding it very difficult to find a vein which would allow a drip to be connected as her veins kept collapsing. I'm really worried about her.

It is too hot to put the oven on so I've no home-made cake to bring, but I bought some chocolate-chip sponge cakes in Lidl which are delicious if anyone would like to share! I also bought Lidl's version of mini-magnums and they are really good, so feel free to try some!

Bella Congratulations I'm so glad to hear that your DH is doing well and I hope that you are too.

It must be so difficult to keep being positive for your poor SiL. My friends veins kept collapsing too when she had her last chemo, but the nurses always managed in the end.

Have any of you had difficulty accessing Facebook today? I suppose that the weather could be disrupting the airwaves. Would I be right, bags?

It shouldn't make a difference, soop, so far as I know. However, I've had some probs with FB over the last day or two. There was an update recently, which probably contains bugs (they often do and they are ironed out over time). So not disturbed airwaves but disturbed bugs... well, I'd be disturbed if I were a bug and someone trapped me in a Facebook update!!
