We have just had the smelliest of farm manure pass by our house. We were in the garden and I literally couldn't stand it so had to come inside for a while., and thought I would look up GN. Me a good country girl to boot beaten back by a pong.

This is peaceful usually. Our little enclave of 6 houses and bungalows at the end of the close, all get on very well. Unfortunately one has been persuaded to move down to a house in the village next to her daughter and it is her bungalow that's just been sold.
I think the daughter is being selfish as M is very frail and I can't see how moving from a bungalow to house will help. The daughter says it will be easier for her than having to drive to her mother all the time. It's one mile away.

Galen you could be right. Neighbours ... a blessing or a curse, you never know what you're going to end up with. Fortunately at the moment we get on well with most of ours. We have little chat when we meet and perhaps a sherry or two at Christmas (we know how to live it up down south ) but there's one ..........no consideration or thought for anyone but himself.

soop you and bags must live in a lovely places. Bags photos and your descriptions always make it sound/look so peaceful and quiet. I live in a nice place too but not nearly so rural or quiet.

soop I couldn't read the advert that went over earlier but they are usually advertising tourist stuff on the coast. Jet skis, special events, sometimes even sightseeing flights.
It is interesting hearing about all our different lives. Mine is normally very quiet but it is certainly all happening today.

Just heard from DD1 that GS taking part in an ice bucket challenge at three o clock and it will be on U tube.

I've two sets of neighbours having building work done.
One of them only moved in on Friday and she's already upset my Gardner and my cleaner by telling them they can't put the composting bags where they've always been put as it's against her wall on the pavement and told Kate she can't park on our pad which is nothing to do with her, it belongs to the three of us in the terrace and the other bungalow!
We are all retired and elderly and mainly widows. She's young with two small children and 'something wrong with her, ? Fibromyalgia'
Why move into a small 2 bedroomed bungalow at £350,000 and then pay yo have it extended when you can get a nice house for the same money?
I foresee problems.

dustyangel The busy stuff going on in your day all sound interesting to me. For what was the advertisement? Of course you may drop in at any time and listen to the wavelets lapping the shore. I'm wondering what the latest update will be when AlieO pops in for a breather. She deserves a break.

We have had a JCB driver working on our land all morning clearing trees and bushes which have self seeded and as soon as he went to lunch I could hear two or three people wacking their carob trees. Then a light aircraft flew over on its way back to Coast, traiing an advertisement.

It is lovely and quiet in here.

Elegran Thank you for making a brave effort to get my mind into a new gear. I've only just this minute logged on...thought I understood where the first cryptic message was heading...but now I'm a tad befuddled.

Have been strolling around the village and blethering with some of the locals. Went into the one wee shop/post office/petrol station and stayed blethering for even longer. Time passes very quickly when enjoying the most simple of pleasures.

It is a very pleasant day. Sun shining and a fresh breeze that ruffles the water. The parent swans swam by in formation one at the front and one at the rear and seven cygnets in between... a lovely sight.

Galen My spare time for the last few days has been spent solving some cypher puzzles that my father set in 1945-47 for the puzzle page of the magazine of his army unit (an AEC one) They are not difficult (once you have worked out the answers!) but they give the brain a gentle workout.

Galen How about meditating and counting breaths? It's supposed to be very beneficial. To repeatedly count to ten and not allow another thought to enter the head, for let's say twenty minutes, sometimes longer, as did the Buddhist class I attended in Cornwall, is a challenge. Funny thing is that I kept returning for more. I met some very good people in that class. We had a tea making ritual mid way through the evening. Happy memories.

Crafting Since my lunch I've been glued to the computer. My shoulder has been aching merrily away for a fortnight. I can raise my arm just so far and then it refuses to go further. Been rubbing the gel on that is advertised for sprains and such. Not a lot of joy. Hey ho...an extremely minor and insignificant blip when compared with the experiences of a few of our lovely lot. If you lived closer I would call round with a bottle of wine and we could giggle to our hearts content.

Galen and Charleygirl It is truly beautiful here in bonnie Kintyre. The air is crystal clear and the waves on the teal green sea are sparkling white. MacS is dead-heading scores of daisies. We've had a marvellous show this year. The only shrub that is a wee bit disappointing is the hydrangea in the back garden. Could be that it doesn't get enough sun.

I feel that I'm slumming it and must do penance with a broom aboot the room.
