Calm me down!
I've gone mad.
On the spur of the moment I've booked an 18 day cruise on the Queen Elizabeth from Venice to Southampton.
It covers my 70th birthday so gets me out of having to have a party which I didn't want.
Don't expect the weather will be brill as it's from the end of November till mid December so I'll have to take a mix of clothes and I have to fly to Venice! (Well I'm not going to swim am I?)
Must be suffering from dementia
Oh dear, I don't like the sound of MacS's lymphoma 
I hope it is something treatable and that he will be cured. Have they ever come up with a diagnosis for his last nasty lumps and bumps? It seems to have been a long time with nobody really having any answers.

rosequartz we went to the hospital today as DH really is suffering with the pain from his mouth which is a mass of ulcers. He can barely talk. They gave him a mouthwash and told him to gargle with soluble aspirins dissolved in water. He has managed some soft food - avocado, scrambled egg, jelly and ice cream, but he is very down. It's as though he has gone into a cocoon and I can't reach him

Thank you for your kind messages and very sensible comments re the shopping. We always do it as a team. 
Today was a one-off. I hope the dear elderly gentleman who assisted me hasn't done himself a mischief. He was all of 80, bless him. The scan that will be done in Oban will take in quite a large area of MacS's torso. A biopsy will then be done depending on the result. He's in good spirits and intends having a wee dram later. I shall need to join him...just to be sociable.

Dear Soop - all good wishes to you and your man, and some positive thoughts winging your way. 
It would be a good idea, as Charleygirl suggested, to get at least the heavy basics of shopping delivered if possible (always nice to go and choose your own fresh food I think if you are able to). No good 'jiggering yourself up' as my DM would have said. Thank goodness there are still some kind people around who are happy to help.
Bellasnana, there should be some treatment available for soothing mouth ulcers and preventing mouth infections that your DH could be prescribed. I cannot remember the name of it; it was a yellow liquid which came in a bottle with a dropper, perhaps Galen would know.
It is very unpleasant to get mouth ulcers as it makes eating difficult, and keeping up his strength from food is important.
soop I'm sorry to hear about MacS.
Does the doc think his symptoms of late are more related to this problem rather than the bite on his lower back?
They do seem similar according to Wiki.

soop is there any possibility that you could do an on line shop and get your goods delivered? I order items like bags of cat litter which are heavy as are 6 litres of semi skimmed long life milk in a pack. Maybe you live too far away for a home delivery but it is something to consider if possible.
I ask the driver to dump my goods in my hall and I can take it indoors at my leisure.
I am so sorry to hear that MacS has been diagnosed with lymphoma, is it Non Hodgkins Lymphoma? Hopefully it has been diagnosed early and treatment such as chemotherapy and/or drugs can start asap.
Your granddaughter is a credit to the family and is doing so well.

MacS had an appointment in Campbeltown hospital this morning. In approx. a week to ten days he's to have a scan in Oban hospital on the lump in his neck...which is apparently a form of lymphoma. The specialist was very thorough and checked all the other areas where there has been an on-going problem of late. We now feel that at last something positive is being done, which is a good thing.
MacS usually pushes the supermarket trolley around when we shop together. He also unloads it and heaves the bags into the boot of the car. During his consultation I went to shop alone. I found that lifting heavy items into the trolley was difficult and then, to my dismay, I could not push the loaded trolley to the car. A dear man of uncertain years did it for me. Then, because I couldn't lift the heavier bags into the boot, he did that for me too. I really was grateful. How annoying...just ten years ago I was so nimble and fit. I spent my day getting in and out of the shop window as huge quilts needed to be displayed. Hey ho...as bags would say.
Our granddaughter has been awarded distinction in her latest executive law exams. A big Nana brag. I shall call back tomorrow. I hope that the sun continues to shine. It is a lovely day in bonnie Kintyre. Bye for now.

Bella Once again, I'm sending heaps of good wishes to you and your family. Is your husband with you or still in the hospital? Bless him, he must feel shattered and, if he is in hospital, missing you so much. Thank goodness that your brother in law is back home and being cared for. I like the fact that the little girls shared chocolate cake with you. That was a kind gesture. I think that sending a balloon up in memory of your mother is far from "daft"...she did live to a ripe old age.
Galen Right, it's plain that you cannot manoeuvre past all the clutter. I'm sure that if she sees you smile, she'll make an effort to be more considerate.

Hello everyone. Yes please, some coffee would be lovely. I have a big piece of chocolate cake to share, brought last night by the two dear little girls who live next door. The elder one was celebrating her sixth birthday yesterday, and her little sister will be three on Saturday, so I think they have a surfeit of cake
Happy birthday to your grandson, soop. He shares his birthday with my late mum who would have been 95 today. This is the third birthday without her and on each one we send a birthday balloon up from the roof. Daft but she would have loved it
DH is feeling in very low spirits at present. His mouth is so sore from the chemo. I hate seeing him so down.
Spoke to my brother in law last night. He's now back home in Edinburgh being looked after by his two daughters. Strict instructions not to drive for a month, and generally take things easy after his sudden heart attack last Friday. He sounded pretty upbeat, all things considered.

Galen Fibromyalgia is a bummer. I should know. Perhaps the new neighbour with two small children is feeling stressed. For what it's worth, I would recommend that a little perseverance may reap a more positive attitude. Who knows...some folk like being at loggerheads and others have cause to feel fractious. Just saying.
dustyangel sad news regarding the old tree stump. I've been on Facebook and saw a super garden seat that was hewn from a stump. I like that idea a lot.
POGS manure smells certainly can be that bad. We used to pass a place where it was left to rot even further, and ultimately, we had to use a different route. One can only hold one's breath for so long.
Crafting the West Coast of Scotland is certainly peaceful and very beautiful. It would be nice to be able to get from A to B without long detours around several long lochs. Such journeys can add hours to a trip that looks dead straight forward as the crow flies.
Doc thinks that shoulder/arm pain is due to a trapped nerve. So, it's a matter of taking an additional dose of the same painkillers prescribed for Fibromyalgia.
Spotting with rain. Leaden grey sky with short bursts of sunshine. Our grandson celebrates his 23rd birthday today. He lives and works in London. We shall all meet up for the annual family gathering sometime soon.
Our digger eventually finished mid afternoon. Unfortunately he had misunderstood DH's instructions about taking the little bits from round the big fig tree and leaving the trunk. He did it the other way round. There is now one lonely little seedling there.
We think the tree might have been in danger of splitting and falling anyway so have just had to make the best of it and had a mammoth picking and freezing fig session.
WE have also been watching utube. Only grandparents would be daft enough to watch a lot of strangers having icy water thrown over them (mind you I know his mum did) in the hope of seeing their GS. He was soaked towards the end when the whole group ganged up on 2 lads in tiger onesies who had managed to stay dry till then.
I don't know yet which charity it was in aid of. The company to a lot of fund raising but this was in aid of the favourite charity of one of the directors' sons who very sadly died at the weekend. What a brave family to do this so soon.
