when did you marry&what was your dress like?

1976, bought a pattern and a dressmaker made it up in white satin and lace.
Full length with a lace train fitted with Velcro so it could come off after the ceremony.
Waist length veil on a Juliet cap.
I made my bridesmaid's dress from green and cream sprigged Laura Ashley cotton. How I sweated over my sewing needle that hot summer!
DH wore a brown suit with huge lapels and flares. He got the flares taken it later and DD wore them often in her teens!
We were married in October so the heat was well over by then.

I found the receipt for our wedding reception roses It was a three course meal for 50 in an Italian Restaurant in Bloomsbury. They let us have the whole basement area and it wasn't much over £50 which included wine of course!

1969

Church wedding. My mother made my dress from a Style pattern. It was guipure lace, long white in a straight style with Empire waist trimmed with white satin ribbon.Long sleeves coming to a point at the wrist.
My headdress was a high ''bomb''shape made of white fake flowers with a a short bouffant veil stitched on the top, I spent the night before the wedding preparing this headdress as I wanted it to be just right.
My father was one to make drinking a hobby.He started on the alcohol as soon as he got up that morning so by the time we made it to the church it was me leading him down the aisle.Two child bridesmaids-my youngest sister and DH's niece wore long turquoise broderie anglais dresses also made by my mother.DH's niece ripped a hole in her dress at the reception playing chasie round the tables.
Cant remember what happened to my dress, but my lovely headdress was ''lent'' by my mother to a friend's daughter and I never saw it again.

The priest who officiated later resigned from his calling. Nothing to do with us, he was accused of getting too friendly with young boys.

1977 church wedding lovley dress still in loft, In fact when had flood last year I washed it! Came up ok! Got one strain sadly. Full length veil.
