I'm not sure I've spelt that correctly (it doesn't look right anyway) but it gives the gist: who were your heartthrobs and has it changed over the years?

Mine were:

Clint Eastwood (in his Rawhide and spaghetti western days)
Steve McQueen

and, oddly enough

David Bowie

Now I have developed a soft spot for David Dimbleby!

I used to fancy Anthony Valentine but now he is just a fat, bald headed old chap. I suppose I am past my sell by date too. smile

KatyK Thu 19-Jun-14 09:57:03

Some age better than others obviously. Nigel Havers looks rather good for 62.

Harrison Ford is wearing pretty well. Not quite Indiana Jones any more, but as a slightly ageing Han Solo he should be a bit of all right!

Atqui Thu 19-Jun-14 15:27:39

What about Robin Ellis as Ross Poldark. Will the new one come up to his standards?

kittylester Thu 19-Jun-14 17:37:48

No!!!!!

janerowena Thu 19-Jun-14 21:40:11

The Black Magic man! I must have been very young, but he seemed so romantic...

Aka

That fellow that looks a bit like Clint Eastwood but is funny? Worked with the fellow who does QI.
And that Irish chappy who was in the Canterbury Tales and is also funny.
hmm

So sorry for wrongly attributing this brilliant quote to another user in this week's newsletter.
It was a combination of too much sun sunshine (and maybe a little too much thought spent 'considering' Richard Armitage)blush

Aka Sat 21-Jun-14 19:08:27

Not the cooking sherry then? grin

bubbly1960 Sat 21-Jun-14 21:17:46

Robin Ellis was such a believable Poldark, the new actor has got some big shoes to fill. Curiously Richard Armitage was reputed to be in the running to play Ross Poldark at one point, now I can imagine he would have made a good job of the part.

Aka Sat 21-Jun-14 21:56:40

Ah ha! There's Bubbly1960 grin

Aka Sat 21-Jun-14 22:03:38

Just been talking to you in another thread. Very confusing. Though, to be fair, I'm quite easily confused after a couple of G&Ts these days.
Do I come here often?

numberplease Sat 21-Jun-14 22:14:41

Very sorry, but I`ve no idea who Richard Armitage is!

Elegran Sat 21-Jun-14 22:26:45

You might recognise his from these photos

Elegran Sat 21-Jun-14 22:31:01

Him, not his, before anyone asks "Recognise his what?".

janerowena Sat 21-Jun-14 22:58:35

grin

Spooks, Merlin, Robin Hood, North and South, Doctors, Casualty, Cold feet, Between the Sheets, and do you remember in the Vicar of Dibley when Dawn French thinks that an amazing young man wants her to marry him (he does, but to someone else!)? Well - that was him! He's been in loads of stuff. You've been watching the wrong side all this time. grin

He's in the film of The Hobbit, but isn't exactly recognisable. He plays the leader of the dwarves.

bubbly1960 Sun 22-Jun-14 20:24:00

Hello Aka, and everyone else too! OOOOH, Can recognise those eyes when RA is Thorin in the Hobbit. He has also done lots of audio books too, not just his looks but he also has the most sexy voice..... need to calm down again, or I may slobber over the CTRL Enter button again!

rosesarered Sun 22-Jun-14 20:43:14

hmm Never heard of Richard Armitage either.
nanKate you ask about funky moped, re Jasper Carrot?Well, it was a bit of a hit way back [got into the charts anyway] a pretty awful song, but heard Jasper once saying he hated it and wished he had never made it.
Look it up on Google,or YouTube.Bound to be there somewhere.

rosesarered Sun 22-Jun-14 20:45:06

jingl was abit worried about you at first when you put John Snow as your male of choice [ until I read the GOT connection and all became clear.]

Nonu Sun 22-Jun-14 20:53:08

My fancy is Robert de Niro , he is rather sexy, IMO , something about him !!!!!!!!
blush & giggle

Still don`t recognise Richard Armitage, but never mind, his pictures don`t do anything for me, sorry to all his admirers.

janerowena Sun 22-Jun-14 21:25:19

It would be dreadful if we all fancied the same men.

susieb755 Sun 22-Jun-14 21:29:37

MrsO and Riverwalk, I am with you on your choices, I was heartbroken when Pete Duel died
Age 8 - Davey Jones from the monkees
Age 11- Marc Bolan
Age 13 ish, Ross Poldark ( not Robin Ellis, just in his Poldark guise ! )
Robert Redford, in Butch Cassidy, Steve Harley from Cockney Rebel singing Judy Teen, and strangely, Alex Harvey from SAHB

bubbly1960 Sun 22-Jun-14 21:44:24

I feel sad when I see how badly some hearthrobs have aged, thinking of Jan Michael Vincent, David Cassidy and Leif Garrett. I know it was their own lifestyles that did not help, but it does make you think. However, Nigel Havers is nicely preserved, as is Robin Ellis. It may be my age but I find Tony Robinson rather interesting too!!!

kittylester Mon 23-Jun-14 10:05:02

janer, Geraldine did marry Harry (Richard Armitage) - it broke my heat! sad

Actually, I could imagine him as Poldark. [swoon] Is this new Poldark ever going to happen? It seems to have been on the cards for ever!

KatyK Mon 23-Jun-14 10:10:32

Robert Redford sitting on that bar stool in his naval uniform at the start of The Way We Were.........Paul Newman was lovely too.
