I was hoping to win one of the books, but may have to fork out!
She could have saved time and effort by mixing the ingredients all in one go, and using a spatula to clean the bowl would have been less wasteful!

Is that the scream of nutritionists I can hear after seeing all that fat and sugar grin

I'm even lazier and would have got the hand-held mixer out to whisk it all up blush

That's exactly the way I make my chocolate fudge pudding, except, of course that the sponge has cocoa added and the golden syrup is mixed with cocoa. It has always proved popular. I am the 'bung it all in together' kind of baker and the food processor is a great deal faster than the lady in the video.

shysal - she never even licked the bowl shock

I expect bowl-licking is considered dangerous on Mumsnet - shock horror, it contains raw egg shock! Cake mix and biscuit dough are both delicious uncooked, the best bit of home baking!

It was always a great privilege to scrape the bowl when our mum baked. Even now I haven't kicked the habit. Don't tell Mumsnet, but all my GC are allowed to do it too.

I always leave plenty round the bowl for me. So glad the kids have moved out. grin

I remember teaching a mother's group how to make this sponge in 1986 - one mum who had never made a cake or home-made pudding before nearly cried because it was such a 'motherly' thing to do and she had struggled in the role for a very long time. She went on to become one of our real success stories and relished learning how to do the simple sorts of cooking that most of us take for granted. What a happy memory it is. smile
